MTN Black Friday Discussions

Upgraded to the Sky Silver package for R522 x 24

4500 mins all network
Unlimited MTN to MTN
Unlimited SMS
500MB roaming
R60 intl. Calling allowance
50GB anytime data

According to MTN website, Sky packages come with extra number/Sim or something, going to visit the store and find out, then put the Mrs on it to help knock that 4500 min down and stop the WhatsApp calls.

Anybody upgraded to the 200GB for R399 package? Is the data shareable?
The lady at retentions told me its not shareable at all, even though the website says shareable to max 5 mtn numbers.
I was literally in MTN Canal Walk 10 minutes ago and asked the consultant. She confirmed that it is shareable. I'm waiting till all the BF deals comes out. If there's nothing better, I'm signing up for this deal.
The son's a student and needs enough data when he's on campus. If he's not using it all I'll get more MTN Sims for my and the wife's phones that he can send the excess data to.

It's anytime data, non promotional. It should all be shareable. Need to confirm though. MTN changes their t & c so often even their own reps have no flipping clue.
As far as I know only the MyChoice contracts have Datashare and it’s now limited to 5 devices only.

I think this page from their current booklet is pretty clear as it mentions sharing data on the page the plan is listed

The lady I spoke to at retentions said that people have been complaining that they can't share the data with the 200gb/R399 package.
Hence I'm asking if anybody actually has this package and if they can share.
I remember when I initially signed up for the 1TB package (400gb+100gb x 2), I also couldn't share till they fixed it on the system.

You only share the data across the 3 sims as far as I know.

I can still add more than 5, also note it is not just for MyChoice.

200GB Anytime data @ R399 month to month seems like the only 1 worth it for me. Night data is useless.

It's in the link I shared initially

I still have data carried over from the old contract, will only find out in December if the data from this package can actually be shared. If it can't, they need to fix it.

Seems it was not implemented.

I’ve moved my 2020 BF number, which I’ve had since 1997, to prepaid.

Happily running on R200/month of Vodacom prepaid. Signal during loadshedding was the clincher
Is the general consensus Vodacom better than Mtn for loadshedding back up? I have a Vodacom BF deal up for renewal.

Does my Vodacom number need to be prepaid before I port to Mtn? Can the BF deal be ordered and "wait for me" for my Vodacom to clbwcome prepaid prior to porting? Very happy with Vodacom. Sharing data difficult. No voice calls included.

Need advice on porting from Vodacom.
I have a MTN BF 15gb 100min R200 x36months (best at the time, wrong cycle I think).
My main number is with Vodacom on contract. If there is a sweet BF deal, how do I get my Vodacom number to port quickly? Can I delay activation of the MTN deal?

You must change the Voda contract to prepaid first, else there will be significant delays with your port to MTN.

Initially during load shedding MTN was the pits. You could not even make a voice call. But from around June they have improved to the point where load shedding or not, there is no drop off in performance/difference.

While trying to cancel an additional (3rd) data contract they offered me on my 2nd line (SWAMBO's phone) a nice little upgrade deal.

11gb anytime data
125min all net
24 x months for R104 per month.

That I can live with. Not an insane black Friday deal but much better than what she had.
