MTN Data Share service

Hi

I am checking to see if your number is on one of the packages that are excluded. Will PM you when I get more info.

Sending you my one data contract MSISDN too. Also let me know if i can upgrade to a package that supports Data share service (its in the upgrade phase already).

Big thanks to THE MAIN MAN @Dr_Data (and anyone else from MTN that might have assisted) for sorting out my problem.
I was very frustrated when the call centers (808 & 1555) could not explain, after numerous calls and days, why I cannot sort out my data share issue.
He quickly picked up and rectify the problem.

So if I could just get someone to assist with my other remaining problem, then I would be a happy customer again.

Yip, big thanks to Dr_Data, i too was considering terminating contract when it ends in 2 months.. now instead im considering making it bigger to support siblings & parents. Guess this shows how important customer reps in call center are.. they can literally driver customers away :-/
 
Used the data share service for a week or so, worked well except for being throttled, big thumbs down for me!

I was able to use data share for 2 weeks. I upgraded yesterday, and suddenly it's not available anymore...
 
I really hope Dr_Data can help me with this.

I've been using Data Share for a while now. Since last week it just stopped working. I delinked my contract to try and use it's own data and it worked perfectly. So there was definately no problem with any setting on my phone.

I linked it again to the Data Share Contract and the data stopped working again. So what I did next was to link another contract with the Data Share Contract to see if there was any problem on the contract that shares the data.

That contract was able and is still using the Data Share Contracts' Data.

So the problem is definately between the Data Share Contract and my main contract.

I phoned 808 and they referred me to 1555. I phoned 1555 and they told me that they will reset my data settings and that I have to switch off my phone for about 10 minutes. Switched it back on later and the problem is still there.

Then I was referred back to 808.

I was at MTN TygerValley and was told to speak to their Data Specialist. Unfortunately the Data Specialist didn't know what Data Share is. He was referring to Thetering and Hotspot the whole time until I realised I'm wasting my time and walked out with my phone still not able to use Data Share.

I had the same problem here. The person who helped me the last time asked me if my wifi is set up correctly :mad: I wish the suppliers would receive training before MTN decides to launch something. I do not get paid to train MTNSP employees. I will rather carry on swapping my sim cards than put up with that type of incompetancy.
 
I'm still sitting with the same problem. My main phone that was able to use my Data Share Contract is not working anymore. My secondary phone is also linked with my Data Share Contract and it works fine.

So now I activated my secondary phones' Wifi Hotspot. It looks as though both phones are now using my Data Share Contract data. I'll test it for a while and let you know.

If this is working then at least I have a workaround until someone, somewhere figure out what's wrong.
 
I cannot wait to relocate to an area where TM has a good signal. Six months of MTN had turned me into a profane monster. Nothing works, except the extreme fast reduction of a data bundle when compared with TM and Cell C. Date share is a joke. All of a sudden all want to offer me buriel plans or fast loans, or win a million. Send STOP to 30641 and tomorrow morning MTN wants you to win another million bucks all over. Their service champion is rude and constantly interrupts. Shouting at her does not help and she is too friggen thickheaded and impolite to allow the CLIENT to speak!

No wonder they have to dish out free SIM cards and RICA on the sidewalks!
 
How does MTN explain this??

I have a Data Contract with Data Share enabled. I have three other contracts that is linked to the Data Share Contract.

2 of them can use the data successfully and the other one doesn't work at all.

The one that doesn't work now worked perfectly for the first couple of days.

It's been more than a month now that I'm trying to get this sorted out but no one at MTN can help me. It's pathetic if you think about it.
 
Does data share only work with monthly bundles.

I bought 50 meg weekly bundle, activated data share on two seperate sims and linked the secondary to the primary with the bundle.
No internet for the secondary.

Doubt it but dial *141*1# and check you data balance to see if you see (shared) next to the data balance. If you do then it is shared and something else is wrong. I think data share works with all data bundles.
