MTN Data Share service

Doubt it but dial *141*1# and check you data balance to see if you see (shared) next to the data balance. If you do then it is shared and something else is wrong. I think data share works with all data bundles.

Doesn't show shared.
But when I do *141*5 it shows that the number is linked.

Tried linking the secondary to the primary too, but it won't allow me.

Trying and trying, but getting nowhere. Even loaded a monthly bundle on the secondary and did it all over. Deactivated on both, then tried from there.

I keep getting errors like "This request is not allowed' etc.

Lets call my two sims, weekly and monthly.

Tried sharing the data from the monthly sim, activated data sharing on both.
Now when I try to add the weekly sim to the list I get the error.
I can only add the monthly sim number to the monthly sim atm...

edit: The other error code is:
Connection problem or invalid MMI code.

The only thing I can think of is, that you cannot do it with two sim cards that are both in your name.
I accidentally entered the wrong number once, and that wrong number was accepted.

You can't have datashare activated on both simcards and then try to link them. You will get a error saying request not allowed or something like that....

First thing I tried. Just tried it again.
Deactivated the data share on the weekly.

Tried adding that number to list on the monthly data share list. MMI code problem. Even went as far as to check that both are on the per second billing price plan. This **** just doesn't want to work...

You can use your own numbers. The Data Share service is just up to shyte.

Hi

As mentioned the number that is not working is set to use afrihost APN, you need to change this to internet APN. Check on the device settings, data share will not work if this is set to afrihost ...

The apn is NOT set to use Afrihost. I haven't use the Afrihost apn for more than a year.

I don't know how many more times I have to explain this. All my phones uses the myMTN APN. Not one of them is set to Afrihost APN.

Two of my phones are linked to the contract with Data Share and they are working perfectly. The other phone that worked is not linked anymore because I can not get it to work. Though it was working perfectly for a while.

I want that one to work again because that is my main number.

Now I get a inbox message from MTN on Facebook saying that they activated Data Share. FFS WTF!!??!???!?!?

I don't know how to explain this any better. It is already activated on contract that I want it activated on.

I need to speak to someone who know everything about Data Share, maybe only the person who wrote the program will know how to help me.

Got a 3rd Sim involved.

When I enable data share on monthly I can add the 3rd sim. (Data is shared)
When I enable data share on weekly I can add the 3rd sim. (However data isn't shared)

When I enable data share on the monthly sim, I cannot add the weekly sim.
I can however add the weekly sim to the monthly sim after a few attempts. (However data isn't shared).

So not all sims are equal...
This following the rules that data share can only be enabled on one sim at a time.

Hi

Can you send me the numbers you are trying to link. Also mention which is the primary and which are the ones that need to share from it.

Thanks

I've totally given up on trying to get Data Share to work. Nobody in the call centre has been able to help me. Still get the error message that I need to contact my service provider or that Data Share is not enabled, even though it is shown as activated on MTN Active and the call centre have reactivated it multiple times.

Tell them to make sure that both Data Share and Data Link are activated.

The reason why mine didn't work was because Data Link was not activated.

I do have Data Link activated. Here is a list of the activated services as per their website: mtnds.jpg

Is there any way one can control how much of the data you want to share, for instance on a 30gb contract to only share 15gb. Or is there a way to see how much data other numbers use

I've noticed signal issues when I link another number on my data. It does not happen everyday, but 2 time in 1 month for few hours that my signal strength bar drops and go up and then disappears. I cannot phone the linked number.... why is that? Did anyone experience the same issue?

Where on the mycontract.mtn.co.za can I manage and add datashare numbers, I can't find it anywhere but I'm pretty sure I have before?
