3G in Parow

Can anybody tell me when will 3G be available in Parow, Western Cape on MTN? I have Nokia N70 and 3G simcard but no 3G signal.

Good day,

We have a site scheduled for upgrade in 3G phase 2 roll out which will be completed by July next year, it could be completed before then as the 3G phase 2 roll out is already in progress........

Hi MTNDD,
The ref # that I got was 0009337 for the coverage issue.

I see that SEAN suggested an antenna. I tried that as well and went from pillar to post to get one. I was told that the Huawei HSDPA card has a special connector that was unavailable at the time. The estimated price of an antenna was another R800 (Poyntings). Made ADSL a cheaper option.
Using my cell phone as a modem hanging from the ceiling was the answer.

The only antenna worth while is the YAGI, I've escalated this to the coverage manager please let me know should you not come right

Pinging between computers on the MyMTN APN

I have a F@stlink USB modem connected to my home pc, connected to the MyMtn apn. Then I have my laptop also connected to the MyMTn APN. The question now is why i cannot connect (or ping) my home pc from my laptop. I checked the dynamic ip provided by the APN for the home pc and ping to that ip, but no luck. I tried using the DynDNS service to perhaps do the translation, but also no luck.

Can you tell me what i am doing wrong, or what else i need to be doing? Should it work or not?

Do you know what the average radius is of a cellphone tower in a residential area? In particular the Somerset Mall tower (Somerset West, Western Cape).
MTN has let me know that the Somerset Mall will be one of the sites that will be upgraded as part of the 3G Phase 2 Roll-out. And since they've only allocated 2 towers for the whole of Somerset West, I curious to know whether these towers will be more powerful than the rest.

Hi,

It should work, We will need the MSISDN's (cell numbers) involved, and a time when they will both be connected in order to trace this out. A re will have to be logged with the SMC VAS 1st line support guys before we can proceed as well.

Hi am aware that it might differ from tower to tower, but do you know the average radius, aspecially if they plan only two towers for the whole of Somerset West? (see my previous post above)

Am trying this, which option is 3G though...
There are MMS, WAP, Both, Video Calling and Video Streaming as options under 1. Phone Setup

Is it one (both?) of the Video calling or Video streaming options?
