MTN defends their 75MB smartphone bundles

Sounds like a lot of hot air. And I say again...R49.00 can buy you 100megs on Vodacom. I really fail to see the benefit of this SIS stuff. Oh well.

So their product isn't crap, it's the consumers' fault for being too stupid to understand the target demographics.

Who do they think they are, Apple?

Dear MtN

I do not use my smartphone, as it is suppose to be use, on your data network, due to your high data rates. I have wifi at work and at home, -generously consume loads of data per month, because it is affordable. The odd whatsapp message in between, on your network does not warrant a data bundle...while we on it, I would use my inclusive money value, with TopUp....- to purchase data bundles, but due to your , in my humble opinion, stupid business rule, I can not do so...

Keep it simple and uncomplicated - increase the MB to 3X for the same rand value. Offer more for less. Simple.

Screw you MTN. 75mb is pitiful. Who with a smartphone, isn't going to use Facebook or Maps or Internet or YouTube? This service is here to take advantage of these users with smartphones who don't understand data and how quickly browsing content can diminish your allowance.

Pigs.

just shows how much MTN and Vodacom are still trying to screw over the consumers who have been supporting them all the way.
Hope Cell C comes out with a product which trashes this crap that MTN offers

Geez, they can complicate things.

Vodacom: R49 = 100MB
Cell C: R50 = 100MB
MTN: R49 = 75MB

What an insult to their client's intelligence!

I stopped reading after "market segment".... Let's see:

Samsung Galaxy S II + Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 + 75MB x 24 @ R599 X 24

Is that package aimed the "segment" they are talking about?

Have decided to renew my contract with CellC.

With the added option of 100Mb.

As I'll be getting a phone with wifi, I can use wifi at home and work, and for the trips outside wifi range I can just use the 100Mb bundle.

EDIT : This morning I used up the last of my 50Mb prepaid data bundle - and it was for browsing/posting on myBB only (after hours etc). No downloading or emails.

So how can they justify 75Mb?

Gould said that they examined the market and found that there were many new smartphone users who were using their device as a normal cellphone, instead of what it was intended for.

what nonsense is this, you calmly screwed us by selling 75MB to us (customers) for R49 while other providers give their clients 100Mb for the same amount and you have nuts to tell us this...sies

The major telecoms really don't understand the needs of a smartphone user.

Red Bull Mobile offers the only true smartphone orientated contracts, e.g 500 megs + 200 minutes + 100 sms for R249. We need more competition in this kind of contract.
