well I am not in South Africa, however I have a prepaid SA number I use for receiving SMS etc for those services in SA that don't support international numbers.

I would love to move to esim, however since I can't walk into a store every time I need a new code, Afrihost seems like the most likely place to offer MTN esim with the ability to move between devices completely online.

Unfortunately, we do not offer any packages specifically for eSIMs, nor do we manage them.

I tried to convert 2 sims to esims on an iPhone. Is it normal for the esim number to show up as a different number? I tried with two 083 numbers and I'm getting an 078 and an 071 number, both are RICA barred so they're useless. I was told because it's a sim swap I'd have to wait 2-24hours, but it's over 24 hours now and still nothing. Is it normal to have to different numbers after scanning the QR?

The sim swop was done incorrectly. Go back to the store. I initially had the same issue. Don't leave the store until the correct number appears on your phone after scanning the QR Code.

Yes but go to an MTN direct store like the one outside Canal Walk or by the Sandton Police Station. Franchise stores have not had sufficient training to support this.
