MTN eSim

I am at my wits end. :X3:

I have been stuck without a phone for a week. MTN cannot seem to convert my Sim to an eSim because their "system gives an error."

We have even loaded tickets with their IT department, I have been to two stores, spoken to customer care countless times, logged a complaint, and continuously follow up with their social team, but just not getting it right.

Anyone by any miracle have a contact there to escalate to? or anyone know if there is a company Rep on this forum?

The only way I managed to get an eSim is to ask the consultant to do a sim swap. Under the options there should be one for an eSim. Also went through multiple channels and endless phone calls, store visits etc.

Oh thanks, this is what we did, but as soon as they want to process it there is a "system error" which their back office needs to investigate and of course no one at their Head Office knows what to do.

Sounds like something I’ve come to expect from MTN. So glad to be on prepaid with them now. Good luck bud.

Thanks, It's a sh*t show. I have been trying whole morning to get through to their cancellations department, also not working

Calling 135 to get the eSim is not easy... Any special trick to it ? When i popped past a store they told me to call in for a prepaid number.

I walked into a store and asked for a prepaid esim. Was out in 10 mins.
No idea why you need to call 135.

We are working on something big behind the scenes. Keep an eye on an announcement in the next couple of months.
Months yeah nah it would be cool if it was next week ;)

Went to MTN they have said they having a issue currently with the Esim but an answer should come out later today.

The second phase for them will be to release the Esim via the client portal and website

But it’s still in development

I need to do a prepaid physical SIM swap to eSim for both my Vodacom and MTN sim cards. Anyone know which stores are doing them in Cape Town?

Doing one for my Afrihost mobile data sim @AfriNatic would be a bonus.

Vodacom : Walk into store and ask. If they look confused, ask them to call the call centre from their land line

Hi.
You can convert your existing sim card to an eSim with MTN. Once that is done, we will request a manual APN configuration with MTN.

Yes, that is correct. The APN won't provision unless it is requested manually with MTN, just like contract sim cards.
Hi @Afrigirl.
I visited an MTN store with my Afrihost MTN sim card and they informed me that they cannot perform the plastic to eSim swap because my SIM was under "Afrihost" and appears to them on the system as a "Business" line.

They said I should contact Afrihost to perform the eSim swap. Any idea what I should do now?

Anybody figured out how to move esim with MTN to a new iPhone? Last time I had to do it it was a fairly convoluted process involving sim swapping back to plastic and then back to esim to generate a new QR code.

Either tweet MTN on Twitter or go to a store. It’s technically a sim-swap.
You don’t need to go back to plastic sim

I went to store and they didn’t help me. Bothered the Twitter peeps and they emailed me a new code

Try this .... delete the eSim on the old phone , then scan the QR code with the new phone.
