I have posted a reply to another reader's similar problem but I want to also post this as a separate new problem.
As follows:

The ZTE MF286R Router supplied with my Fixed Home LTE service taken out in November 2021 has not worked properly since day one.
After 18 days of complaining about the fact that the router disconnected from the signal and did not reconnect, and visiting the store many times, an MTN technician visited my home and checked the router, making one adjustment which improved the situation.
The representative however said that he 'does not like' this brand of router.
The router, however, kept on disconnecting and it had to be physically switched off and on again to obtain a signal again. This happened at least twice a day. I phoned MTN technical support and a very helpful person stated that he understood completely and that he received many similar calls. He stated that the router was inadequate for its purpose and that I should take it into the store for a different model.
The store which sold the contract and supplied the router however, refused to take the router in for assessment. I had pressurize the store to force them to take the router in for assessment. This was after 40 days of this poor/inadequate service.
I am now waiting for the outcome of this process.

Hi, I also took up the services more or less the same time and what you're experiencing is the same problem I have. We've changed the address, GPS coordinates, APN settings, checked coverage and now I'm being told the site has been down since the 5th of December. We're awaiting the engineers to check the problem but I'm not holding my breath. No BCM, no monitoring of resources by IT... Just one big mess of you ask me.

I'm at the point where I'm considering referring debit orders cause the amount of prepaid data I spend is absurd.

I literally have the exact issue. The store just refused to help. I’m at a place where I’d prefer to buy another router brand or something. Do you think that MTN would allow that? I.e. to use their sim with a different modem brand! Sorry to ask you this but MTN literally doesn’t know a thing about anything.

I usually experience the same thing Also thought of that, I think this ZTE brand it's nonsense actually so I wanna ask at store because at thy end of thy month thy debts my account while I do not enjoy their services

Well, well! I also received the ZTE MF286R during November 2021 with the upgrade to the Home FixedLTE contract I have with MTN, but I only start to use it a a few days ago (reason below) - and experience also Internet losses, albeit for very short stints only. No rebooting or action necessary from my part.
I use it only in Wireless broadband mode - WiFi is disabled. I have 2 ethernet connected devices to the ZTE.
1. TPLink router (Archer A7) that provide WiFi and cable connections to my home network devices;
2. A Ligowave DLB5-15 that provide remote connection to distant camera devices.
Reason for switching: I switched to ZTE because I wanted to get an idea of how it performs as oppesed to the Huawei B618s when loadshedding periods kicks in. With the B618 I found that when loadshedding kicks in, the B618 reports only a 3G connection from the MTN Tower. I have to wait about 10-20 minutes then reboot the B618 to get again 4G signal from the Tower.
In future (no date yet), will I experiment by moving the ZTE to another location and start to use if for a WiFi connection to cameras. Then only will I know if the same Internet loss issue will occur.
BTW, I received the B618 with my initial switch to MTN FixedLTE in November 2019 - and is quite impressed with its performance when there is NO-Loadshedding. My property is not subjected to loadshedding because it is in a semi-rural area, connected to a transformer that is fed by the Randwater powerline - which of cause may not be loadshed.

So, I ordered a VOX MTN packet.

They forced me to buy their ZTE router saying that the service cannot work in any other router. I bought the router and subscribed for the MTN service with VOX.

They said router would be delivered in 24 hours. 3 days later the package arrived.
Router box was open, router would not even switch on
Promised I would have a new router within 24 hours.
3 days later no replacement router. I used more airtime calling VOX in 6 days than I did in the previous 6 months.
This last Saturday they said that maybe they could deliver a router by Monday. THEY RECORD THEIR PHONECALLS.... but only if it suits them.
I told the gentleman that I want the purchase cancelled as they have not been able to provide me a working router (The simcard remained untouched as they said they would lock it if I put it in one of my routers)
The gentleman on Saturday agreed that VOX had not fulfilled their part of the contract and said he would cancel the initial purchase and service as I had not yet had any service. He apologized on behalf of VOX and said they would collect the broken router and MTN Sim card by Sunday.

NOW.... VOX MTN want to charge me
A) more than the original monthly amount was going to be
B) three months payment for their service
ALL OF WHICH NEEDS TO BE PAID BEFORE THEY CANCEL!!!!

I have NEVER received a working router from VOX, I have NEVER used the MTN sim card or service.

However, if I do not pay, they cannot cancel, and I will be handled over to legal. THIS IS AFTER THEIR REPRESENTATIVE AGREED LAST SATURDAY THAT THEY HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO PROVIDE WHAT I HAD ORDERED SO HE WOULD CANCEL THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE AND THERE WOULD BE NO PAYMENT - DUE TO THE ERROR BEEN ON THE SIDE OF VOX MTN !!!

In what universe is this acceptable????

Is there anyone who knows how to get this issue resolved as VOX has no intention of doing anything other than trying to extort money out of me.
