MTN launches data bundle auto-renewal feature

MTN has launched an auto-renew bundle option, allowing customers to automatically renew their data bundle once it is used up or expired.

Once a data bundle expires, customers’ accounts will automatically be reloaded with another data bundle of the same size and validity.

These mobile companies make a mockery of Icasa and their regulations. They just do what they want and fear no-one.
Time to get tough on them - withhold their operating license if they don't comply. They been keeping SA to ranson for 20 odd years with their prices.
We need something like what Nigeria did to MTN - let them "skrik their melk weg" ;-)

The MTN app is borked and automatically purchases the automatic renewed data bundle. Unfortunately, you can't change it easily, and must sacrifice your last data if you cancel.

Remove this Trojan of an app immediately.

In line with the usual mess. Part of their com pony genetics. Listened to the stuttering radio explanations on this on Friday? How can you expect anything else - they’ve received their share hand shakes

Just got a message from MTN stating that " From 7 June, when your Data runs out, you will stay connected with MTN's auto-renew 1MB bundle at 40c. Keep a positive airtime balance or Usage limit. TCs"

Any idea on how opt-out of this auto-renew scam? I didn't even get a request to opt-in.

That, without opting in and no opt out would be illegal appart from daylight robbery

Buy your MTN data from Afrihost, no OOB

You should no longer have ANY OOB unless you specifically opted for such an option. Regardless of the network, and Bundles should no longer expire. Or am I missing something?
