MTN mobile connection drop

I'm having a problem with the GPRS connection on my Sony Ericsson K550i.
I wasn't having a problem till about 3 weeks ago, when my phone started connecting automatically via EDGE, it establishes a connection on my mobile browser, Opera Mini or MxIT, but after loading a page or 2 drops the connection! The connection works after restarting the phone only to do the same thing over!
... yes, I reinstalled my GPRS settings and fiddled a bit but nothing seems to fix it...

Anyone got a solution?

I also had that very same problem.The whole network signal would drop altogether. I e-mail MTN about the problem and they were aware of it. The problem does't happen so much.
I saw the same thing happen on other networks (thou this was when they were moving around the nodes on the tower).Phone MTN and ask

Hi

Sounds like an issue with the phone, have you tested another handset in the same area? Does it behave the same? I think you need to test this just to see if its the area or the specific handset...

Happened all weekend with me, then I changed to my VC sim and no problem

I'll give my sms a try in another handset again and see if anything comes of it. Although the problem doesn't seem to be as bad at the moment, but I still have issues.
What's the number I should call for MTN CS? I had a number but can't seem to find or remember it!

GPRS is forever playing up. happily i moved to an area now where I have 3G most of the time. Even better, Cell C is coming here!!!!
