MTN-Sucks.co.za Website

I think it might fall under "fair use" or parody. If it was done by Vodacom it'd be a much more professional job I think!

you are allowed to change it so say for parody use but not use it exactly as it is and deface it. Same thing with DSTV channels. Your are allowed to stretch it according to it's ratio but once you put a graphic over it, you will get into a lot of trouble. Changing it to something different is ok but I don't think the webmaster did that...

I assume that's a mistake. :D Or was that from the site?

No you are nt allowed under any circumstances to use the MTN, MTN Loaded or their pay-off without MTN's consent in writing.... I learned that first hand and got rapped on the knuckels for it...lol

I don't it would be a good idea for MTN to pursue this one. The website doesn't much publicity anyways. If MTN sues the webmaster then it'll prob attract more people there and that's prob what the webmaster wants.

I believe ppl at mtn is watchin it closely

Well here's my take on this

I understand that there are problems out there and if it wasn't for sites like myADSL, HelloPeter and so forth them maybe some of the concerns would go on without anyone knowing about it - The way I see it is this guys has problems weren't they addressed properly maybe not.

I came onto this Thread and advised that I'd like to be given the opportunity to respond to any concerns raised and let it be available to the public to view and got no reply

MTN are in the process of investigating this but unlike the hype that was raised with http://www.hellkom.co.za/ we want to take a proactive stance in terms of acknowledging that yes there are mistakes that can be made and where’re not perfect but give us a chance to respond to any concerns and allow us a opportunity to try and respond to any concerns.

Anyhow that's my 2 cents maybe I'm wrong what do you guys think?

Maybe I'm wrong but the impression I've gotten is that his main complaint is that his cellphone was stolen along with his contract sim, which he didn't bother reporting till he came back from holiday weeks later, and then he had major issues when he got billed for the usage over that time.

Personally I think the cell networks should have something similar to credit card lost card protection where if you report the theft in a reasonable amount of time you're covered for any unauthorised calls, but that's another issue.

I think the public perception of MTN is very different to the public perception of Telkom anyway so the site probably won't be taken as seriously, especially in its current incarnation which is akin to the drunken ramblings of an adolescent who speaks English as a fifth language.

I just think if you start filing lawsuits etc. you'll legitimise it and create the perception of it as an underdog which people will then support. I haven't seen any coverage of it outside of MyADSL so if you leave it alone it'll probably die a slow death.

If you offer to try and sort out someone's problems and they don't take up the offer they're clearly on a crusade so there's no much you can do to appease them.

MTNDD,

My biggest problem with MTN is support. Fine that I can come onto this forum to get help but most people don't know about this site or HelloPeter. The helpdesk numbers take anywhere from 30min - 60 mins to answer which is way too long. Complaints made about unruly staff (posted this story earlier) was submitted but nothing was heard from again. MTN's website also has a suggestion box for complaints and input. I've submitted so many of those but I've never ever got a response from them acknowledging receipt let alone solving a problem.

The barrier that MTN puts up (I'm assuming Vodacom does the same as well) is really one very big obstacle. I don't believe it would damage MTN's bank account to set up a world class customer support offering. It does improve on their image greatly as well.

I for one really appreciate that there are people like MTNDD, Pitbull et al at MTN. Just to know that someone is actually listening is really great.

All the same I have to say that I find the 'formal' communication lines to be absolutely pathetic. This is true for MTN, VC, and Hellkom (the three I deal with). I can't speak for the others.

I've raised this with the relevant managers but I totally understand where you're coming from

Sorry , I have to add my 2 cents.

I'm thinking of upgrading my databundle. I keep on postponing because I just don't have the willpower and energy to phone 808 and go through the whole experience of questions and more questions . Last two times I added SMS bundle and current data bundle was too much.

Having to speak to people who can't speak clearly, have the wildest names no one can remember. and then having to go through what feels like 10 minutes of questions and answer and a whole recital read from a cue card. You can hear the guy on the other side reading his greetings and 'friendlies' . It sounds so unnatural.

On the same token , having to go in to MTN main branch in Bloem and waiting for 55min (my last record) is just not worth the effort.
