MTN to jack up networks

CELLULAR operator MTN is making heavy investment in its networks a top priority, aiming to sink almost R25bn into its infrastructure by the end of this year.

I think it's about time. Over the last couple months mtn has been getting worse and worse.

Yet its activities were stifled by network congestion serious enough for the regulatory authority to fine it $20m and ban it from advertising until it increased its call-carrying capacity.

Wow. A regulatory authority that actually tries to look after the consumers.

Imagine that. Wish SA had one of those.

Lets hope they sort out their data billing and user dashboard interface first. They are miles behind the rest and so old they are turning yellow....

MTN can kiss my ass. I have been a contract subscriber since 1996 and nowadays I can't even get a connection in my home suburb of Glenwood, Durban.

People try calling me. Nothing. I try calling people. No connection, or "connection error".

Everywhere you go. Except Glenwood (possibly more).
