MTN - Worst Customer Support EVER!

I would create a new thread but I am sick and tired of MTN. I thought will build on what you said about their service.

I have a tablet contract that comes with 1 gig of data. I never ever go over 1 gig and in case I should, I have a Data Limit of R1500.
I always monitor my usage via the MTN app provided on the Playstore and MTN are the publishers.

My usage is normally around 400mb and 500mb per month. I've had this contract for 20 months and have always been billed R399 (the contract price).
This month, I get billed R4500. Apparently it is because of me exceeding my data usage. I have the app to approve this is not true and with a Data Limit of R1500... I shouldn't be billed anything over R1500 + R399 R1899.

I have called the call centre agents several times and the call mysteriously gets cut. I've spoken to 2 team lead of the call centre, nothing.
The accounts department sends me a break down of the data usage which is wrong, I reply and still haven't got feedback.
The twitter entity gave me the same break down, and again no response after my reply.

Who do I escalate to? Which person? Don't tell me 808, useless.

Just to be clear, I never use vulgar language.

If in jo'burg.... go visit 14th ave, HQ. They have actual people you can see and talk to.

Johannesburg sir. I have seen their offices. A friend of mine who works for MTN said that is the main offices but you can't get in without access.

Have you had any luck, with going there?
 
have to agree with you, it's pointless asking their customer services people anything - worse than Telkom years ago


I just don't understand why Willem (Y'ello Crew) bothered to offer his help here - pointless again

I renewed my contract there last time.
(can renew now again)


you go there.
park to the right in visitors section.
if you drive past it, note where the pedestrian security is located,
walk there,
sign in at security gate.
tell them you want to renew if you think that will make it easier.
walk in. follow signs, go to main reception,
ask for the type of person you need to see.
(I saw someone as I had a query on my account I wanted cleared before signing.)

hahaha, yes, they probably treat governments just like they treat their customers - the arrogance of large corporates..... :-(

we'll see if they get a well deserved ass whipping in naaigeria ;-)
 
MTN is dreadful. I'm in the process of moving everything of mine from them to Cell C. Their attitude and business ethics absolutely stink, and so do their sarky store agents.

Going to give my friend at MTN till next week to pull some strings because he helped my wife (Wife took out a contract 6 months ago and her SIM wasn't activated since... MTN still billed her each per)

If all else fails, and they better hope it doesn't. I will video my whole conversation at their offices.

Yes I can see numbers for incoming calls. No one sees my number.

that's odd, as AFAIK, when you block your CLI, you also can't see others CLI, so it seems there is a problem at your provider

Hi All;

I'm not going to add details of my case to the already listed issues people have with MTN, but I've also suffered losses due to their incompetence. Even their complaints staff do not follow up after the initial interactions. I'm considering whether I should take legal action. Even though it's not even R5k it pisses me off immensely that a company can just disregard their customers and it will give me some satisfaction to know that our countries laws protect us against this nonsense. My contracts have expired and even cancelling them is not happening as I expect.

Has anyone else attempted to go this route?

if they wipe their backsides on governments (Nigeria), why would they even consider responding to their customers?
Drag them to the small claims court!
