MTN's "uncapped" broadband a con?

To the guy that said in the UK you get 3GB and then they throttle you for the rest of the month @ 128kbps, Well - I just heard on 5FM that MTN are doing the same!

R700 or something and you get 3GB, after that you can download the rest of the month on 128k.

you can get up to 1.4GB per day on 128k, so theoretically you can do 39 GB for 700 bucks - on 3G that ain't bad at all!

that's R18/GB people

with vodacom though, after you hit your 3GB, you can't surf for free like you do on MTN, but are instead hammered with R2 for every extra MEGABYTE that you download

I Think MTN is doing something good here for 3G users, you haters can go pluck yourselves.

Thats a bit harsh. Remember it's only opinions. And many many of them just happen to be the same

Im thinking of offering unlimited petrol to all patrons!

R500 for 40 litres. When thats done, you can come back for more, but only at 10 mililiters at a time.

Hey, its still unlimited fuel!

That's Better than someone supplying the fuel at 14.4 litres per second and charging R20 per litre?

Um - none of the service providers make you go to them to get data... if you're willing to provide me with 10ml while I'm on the move - then yes please :)

All becoming so very boring now....

Really - so throttling/shaping doesn't happen anywhere but SA?

this thing doesnt even qualify under SA's lousy definition of broadband.

I second that

Uncapped must mean just what the word means : You will not be capped on data usage for the month. If you sign an account for 4 MBPS uncapped, the speed must stay 4 MBPS for the whole month. No speed changes, no data caps. Please ISP's, all of you, don't offer products with this kind of "fair use" handicaps. We are sick of that. We work hard for our money, and so must you. Give us the real thing, we are so far behind the rest of the world. Telkom, why this noisy silence on your future ADSL packages ?
