multi threaded browsing. how?

I know its a long shot but does anybody know of a way to use multithreading on ALL traffic.. for example even browsing. Perhaps an intermediate software router that will split traffic over threads. Maybe this way the service can become usable due to the wonderful effects of multithreading on their little bandwidth throttling mechanism.

I don't think anyone has developed this,... well, because it shouldn't be fscking neccessary!
 
In a way, much of the browsing is already multi-threaded in nature - if a page contains multiple images, they are downloaded simultaneously.

There used to be a registry setting, where one could specify the maximum number of simultaneous connections MS IE could handle.

Yeah..I looked at this a few weeks back. It's poiintless because, like anakin said, browsing is already sortof multithreaded. Besides..with me being a victim of their new bandwidth managment system that's being "tested" on 256k users, I can safely say that multithreaded downloads help fsckall, 256K seems to be hard capped at 64K. Some **** at Sentech probably fscked up with his calculations again...
 
Well apparently Sentech was (or is.. you never know with those call centre monkeys) giving each thread/connection a bandwidth share (say 7KB/sec) and then the threads would add to max out the connection (bah. prove it) so now the fix is to spread the bandwidth share (7KB/sec) over all your connections. And this is (direct from a call centre monkey couple weeks back) supposed to speed things up?
 
The only way I can get it to work at present is to open each topic in a new window. What a pain!

Not a chance. 256K hard capped at 64K. Whether flashget is running 5 threads or 1, I only get 64K and browsing becomes unbareable even though I'm supposed to have another 192K free to work with.

As indicated earlier use Mozilla Firefox ;-) .. Middle click opens in a new tab ... THE ONLY way to read these forums ;-)

they are farquing pathetic ...

carrier pigeon is afaster mode and does not need LOS :) of course the lag is quite severe ...
 
Multithreaded browsing is tackling the problem from the wrong end, and impossible.

Imagine the load on poor RPM's webserver, if 6 separate threads tried to generate this thread from a database query, just so that you can get a decent response from the server. Multithreaded browsing would also only be possible on 'static' content, not dynamically generated content, since byte-range requests aren't possible on dynamically generated pages, such as these forums, or many websites.

Forget about the idea. Sentech should fix their PROBLEM, from THEIR side.

Just imagine uploads were downloads. Sheesh we would be so happy. I have hardly ever seen uploads go slow (when I release my P2P uploads). They always run rock solid. Well if the uploads slow down then you know something is really fcked. Seriously though, my uploads have always been really consistent and once when unleashed they even went up to 50KB/sec. Pity we cant say the same about downloads..
 
Greedy - my uploads are just as *** as my downloads on P2P, The only way I get any speed is using multi threaded downloads (flashget), but as soon as I opena any P2P, these also crawl.
