MultiChoice decoder ‘hacking’ causes a stir

M-Net is worth it, I must say the international channels is mediocre at best and duplicated many times, with 20 news channels, 20 sport etc. The South African ones especially M-net and even SABC and E-TV seems to offer alot more. Luckily you can only get M-net without having 90% crap foisted on you as well.

I looked into that awhile ago, the subscription for M-net alone [no dish, just the normal decoder] was almost R300 p/month. Did this change? Anyone know what the cost for JUST M-net is? Everyone just told me you might as well get DSTV as M-net is the channel taking up all the cost.

Personaly I love the sports channels news channels and educationaly channels(65-72(72 lol)) and cartoon network. I think the movie channels excluding maybe TCM is pretty cr@p. MTV is so so(I would love to get MTV 2 though).

Hi all--Ihave a 2.4 dish with ku band lnb used to receive Astra sat a,b.c and d but i have not used this setup for about 4 years and the lnb is seized and the dish is green with moss. My Dstv decoder and Analog receiver is also "stashed away" as i also got sick of this pay Tv ripoff. I used to enjoy "fiddling" with my equipment so do you guys think It is worth it to restore things and have a go again. I am soooo out of the sattelite hobby so please someone tell me if there are channels out there and where to point the big dish and what frequency the lnb should be?

Now let's see. I bought a radio from Sansui, so now I can only listen to the stations sanctioned by Sansui? Similarly I bought a TV from Phillips, so now I can only watch SABC1,2,3?

I bought a decoder from Multichoice so now I cannot watch any channel to which I can tune it?

Finally, since when does hacking apply to a menu choice?

It's quite amazing how when a company doesn't like something it is decreed as illegal. I thought that legality applied to laws as passed by relevant authority. If in Multichoice's case it is illegal, then surely Multichoice are breaking the same law by selling equipment capable of being used to break the law?

How do you decode Cryptoworks?

I'm watching all the channels from telstar 12 at the moment, there are a couple of ways to decode....... firstly by using a smartcard....... or by emulating the encryption with a dragoncam or embedded.....
i could help u with a decoder capable of decrypting nagravision and cryptoworks, all embedded...... then u can watch from both birds....

i tried mostly all the sattelites on the lynsat page last night (pas7/10 and pas10) and only the free religion channels worked the others picked up signals of various strenghs but showed nothing, so all the so called free stuff isn't worth bothering about unless you ultra religionist....

time 2 get a skysat card some decoding program and bye bye nochoice. don't care anymore if it's legal or not,i just want it for me!

dont forget about telstar 12 with dmc channels on it, including playboy channel uk, u call that religion??

It is the greatest form of religion in the world. Perfection in every sense of the word. Now that is fitting for a superior being.

Is it possible to pick up these free channels using the existing MultiChoice smartcard, or do i need a different smartcard?

Please guys any help at all will be appreciated.

Yes, its possible..... but you will only get religious channels and botswana tv...

Someone earlier said that Mnet on its own is worth it? Its almost R300 for one measley chanel?

I agree that dstv is over priced, but ill pay my R380 so i dont have to put up with SABC day in day out. If you enjoy sport you have to admit that their sport chanels are really good, I dont think the movies are that bad besides TCM and Hallmark! Mnet has a really good array of sitcom's, Discovery and National Geographic are pretty good, you will never find shows like "I shouldnt be alive" on SABC.

As for the music chanels, a bit disapointing with all the breaks etc. Ultimately if you can afford R380 its worth it!

If you haven't already got the equipment it is pretty expensive. Then there is the tricky job of getting an installer to point the dish where you want it. You can DIY but you need a sat meter - not cheap. Then when it's all done you don't really get a lot. To complicate matters, people in Pretoria might get something that isn't available from Cape Town.
Maybe team up with a neighbour and get him to use a card splitter with DSTV. Cheaper option but not legal.

Telstar 12

I use Telstar 12 to receive playboy, national geographic, reality and club channels. The HBO channels are scrambled, how can i unscramble them? also are there any other channels i can receive on Telstar 12?
