MultiChoice launches universal remote

Have I missed something, or is this news 3 years old? My SD PVR remotes have been operating my TVs since the TV remotes broke a few years back.

thus a kitten painfully dies on the corner..while the detective tries to unravel as to why so, I quickly shove to uber PVR remote and murder weapon back into my pocket...knowing that one day, just one day I will be able to turn of just about anything with it! whahahahaha

Yay, so now my amplifier, dvd player, my pvr and my tv can remote can all be programmed, where previously it was just my amp, dvd and tv remotes that supported programming!
Is there the option to buy a more vanilla and cheaper one instead?
Why do all our providers insist on giving us more than we want and then pretend that they're doing us a favour?

From the people who launched the most idiotic example of an HD PVR onto an unsuspecting SA consumer public comes something new ....

This summer, in a theatre near you, be prepared to SCREAM.

So this new remote will probably work okay sometime towards the end of 2009 when it gets its 3rd or 4th firmware upgrade ??

You've got to be kidding .... Multichoice.

Why not focus on making the HD PVR function at nearly 60% of what the old SD PVR is capable of. That would be a big step up from it's near uselessness in its current form.

Now there's an idea.

huh?

The remote that came with my Pioneer HT receiver does the same, and more!

The Universal Remote get shipped with the DSTV PVR, but it
wil not work until you do a software upgrade.
Navigate to the Software Upgrade option with the older PVR
remote.

Monochoice: "Do what with one hand??"

Oh, you mean the YOU-WILL-NOT-OPERATE-YOUR-REMOTE-WITH-ONE-HAND remote control? What idiot came up with the design of the stupid wheel-thingy in the middle? Great idea, but implementation sux.

i do not understand this is NOT new!!

Its been around for ages, i control my tv and DVD player with our current one!!! that exact remote....

there are cheaper and better alternatives

^ +1, you can't get cheaper than free.

As for the dodgy wheel, it's just to turn the TV on and off, everything else is controlled by the decoder (sound, channel, etc.), if you need to control more, buy replacements to your original remotes, or a better universal.

multichoice universal remote and apple tv

Hi All,

Strange question, how do I setup the dstv remote to function as an apple tv remote?

THanks.
