MultiChoice's FY24 results show it is technically insolvent

But how would they pay for the rights? Same story for R350 you can pick either you get top class rugby, maybe F1, maybe soccer, maybe tennis. Remember they have to pay for the rights, it's not free and they don't dictate the costs.
They will also get all the single PPV revenue, reselling to other services and advertising. Assuming they have a monthly option (R350) and a single PPV option (R100).

Right now for the average sports fan who watches a game a week it's cheaper to go to the pub and get 4 free beers than have DSTV.

That's not the average sports fan ;-), that's just some chap who likes to watch a game or 2 a month..

Cash out guys, get rid of your decoders and stand a chance to win R10 000 cash

This video and promise of R10 000 is being regurgitated on all the DSTV/MC threads lol

You know it's 2024 now right? I know 2020 was disruptive.

Bunch of idiots running that company. This was going to happen, from years ago. They failed to change anything that would turn it around. They just became worse. Their board and ceo's should be held accountable for incompetence

MultiChoice goes technically insolvent

DStv owner MultiChoice has reported a staggering R4.1 billion loss for the year ending 31 March 2024 and has become technically insolvent.

This marks the company’s worst financial performance on record, with a 42% increase in losses compared to the previous year.
I am not surprised, DSTV is a monopoly and a rip off. Why don't they have packages where you can pay say R200 per month and have a choice of 20 channels that you want, instead you must pay R929 for sport the rest of the channels are a waist of time.

Okay but Sky sports gives you 9 channels for R800.

sorry but you can't compare To whats happening in the UK with just an exchange rate conversion BECAUSE the things in the UK are cheap for UK citizens because of how much they earn ...... so IMHO when we earn on par with them in terms of the exchange rate conversion then i will accept that your comparison is valid - till then R1000 for DSTV when you can get 9 alternative streaming services in total for that much is laughably expensive and guys are definitely going to vote with their wallet and give DSTV the message to "stand on their heads and whistle through their ar5e"
