Hi ppl, I need help pls. Im unable to dial an adsl connection manually. It gives me the connecting through wan miniport...., and after a while I get 'error 678: The remote computer did not respond.

I have a telkom 5102g router.

any advice would very much be appreciated.

Thanks

did you try to recreate the rasspppoe shortcut ?

...is the router in relay/bridge ?

arg. there i just swap from verizon to siax ;|

you could always reset the router - did work once for me when i had similar issues.

its supposed to be a very simple thing, but murphy is fooling around with me again. i reseted the router already aswell. I have an account setup on pppoe on the router, but I just want to dial a diffrent account to use without affecting the router so other pc's go on as normal.

I have done it before at a friends house, but for some reason it doesnt want to work now, could it be the router?

hi stoke, Im using the adsl atm. the settings in pppoe on the router works, i just want to dial another account to use on this pc.

Download RasPPPoE and create a dial-up connection with that instead of using windows to create a PPPoE connection.

edit: after you install RasPPPoE, go to your network properties, right-click the LAN connection that you're using, go to PPPoE in the list and select properties, then make your number of WAN end-points 2 or more.

Thanks for the help... but I eventually got it working. I upgraded the 5102G firmware and that added the bridge interface option when pppoe is selected.
