I would like to censor any mention of the words "goat cheese" on the internet because, well, I really have an issue with goat's cheese. If you do not do this, I will start killing innocent people.

Actually, whilst we're going about censoring things. Would you please censor all the PORN as well? I really have huge issues with it.

In my belief system, it is a sin to discuss goat's cheese so candidly and thus I am offended when people do. And even if I get over a billion people world wide to back me, there are probably gonna be at least 5 billion more out there who think it is a ludicrous idea. Then again, I guess seeing as there are people out there who appreciate goat's cheese and wish to find out more about it, I don't really have the right to deny them the knowledge of it simple because of what I believe...

Just because you believe something, doesn't meant the rest of the world has to conform to it. I believe all hot women should walk around topless all day, that doesn't mean they have to do it, nor do I have the right to force them to.

Actually I would think it depends on the degree to which something is accepted at the time.
Take your apartheid example for instance. A large group of people (the apartheid regime) believed that they were right while the majority of the world did not. Apply the same policy 100 years earlier during which that same majority would have had no problem with it and it suddenly seem less "wrong".

Which begs the question - Christians does not have a problem with pictures of Our Lord, but muslims do have a problem when Mohammed is depicted in a picture. Why is it so?
Obstensibly because Christ was God encarnate and mohanmmed was a merely a prophet?
Or because in 2000 years christians can now tell images of God apart from God?

But what I can't understand is what difference it makes by praising a deity through a symbol. You are not indulging in symbol-worship as you do not worship the symbol itself, nor is it imbued with godly powers. By using a symbol through which to worship your God, you may, personally be able to forge a stronger bond between yourself and your deity as you are connecting to him/her/it through something tangible.
