Muslim Groups Attempt to Censor Wikipedia

You are totally missing the point: why should wikipedia be governed by what muslim's think is tolerable?

If they don't like it, they are free not to use it. Why should they push their (retarded) beliefs on other people?

The corollary of your argument is "non-muslims don't have a problem with pictures of mohammed so muslims should just accept it and move on"

Nah. You guys think we should keep quiet? You guys would like that hey.

Tolerance works both ways. The fact that he played a role of importance in the history of our world makes him extremely relevant to all humanity. A painting of him is neither offensive nor derogatory, yet it plays an important role in forming a perception of who the man may have been.

It should not be treated as a breach of tolerance, at all.

Whose perception? A non-muslims? A muslims?

Retarded beliefs, well done on showing tolerance. You might not like the religion or it's laws but is it too much to just to be a bit tolerant of it. Wiki probably isn't gonna take down the pics which is fine and the Muslims should just not visit that site since it's against their religion, end of story.

I have no patience nor tolerance left for religion. They are all equally retarded and a bane of humanity.

Both. Faith should not serve as a barrier to knowledge.

You can respect who ever you like, or not. I really don't care.

If you wish to attribute some inherent intelligence to blindly following stone-age superstitions that is your prerogative, just don't expect it to qualify you for special treatment.

If you really don't care, why are you still posting in here?

I really don't care whether religious people like jk8 and his ilk respect me or my position but I care greatly when they try to impose their beliefs on other people.

yeah but who knows what Allah really looks like anyway? whover posted the pic is posting an impression of how they see Allah. im neither christian nor muslim nor tamil nor hindu- i just believe that if the picture is so hectically offending the muslims rather respect their wishes and remove the picture- lets keep the peace:)

How exactly are Muslims imposing their beliefs on you icyrus?

Muslims simply don't want a picture of the most revered man in Islam up on a wiki and requested it be removed, it's quite simple.

If Muslims object to the picture they are entitled to say so. Because we allow free speech. I have no problem with them saying we are offended, we would like you to remove the picture. However any request to have the picture removed or moved should be rejected. If Muslims object to the picture they can choose not to visit the site or they can set their browser to hide pictures.

Why dont you make up a picture in your head? Do you really need a Wiki artist to provide a pic based on what he sees?

That's the thing, the picture might not really be "offensive" as such, it just goes against the teachings of Islam.

Also, how accurate is the picture? Is it just a painting made from references of how the Prophet Muhammad looked or is a painting dating back 1400+ years ago which was painted while the Prophet was still alive?

But yeah, let's just keep the peace.

You just said it - I don't mind pictures of muhammad (nor do the majority of people) and I don't see why wikipedia should bow to their beliefs.

Keep the peace at the cost of submitting to dictatorial will? Seems like a hefty price to pay in my opinion.

wiki is not bowing to anyone's beliefs, a simple request was made to remove the picture and wiki was well within their rights to refuse. The only other thing that can be done is for Muslims to just not visit the page.

Also, I haven't yet been to the wiki page but how accurate is the painting? See my previous post, #156.
