Muslim medical students boycotting lectures on evolution

To tell you the truth, I'm more of a pantheist, which is pretty much atheism with a sense of how the universe works. Sure, tell me what the agenda is.

:D Totally with you on that. I also believe the universe=God and religion is primitive mans way of trying to understand or make sense of the universe. I believe the way to ascension is through knowledge and enlightenment. As a pantheist I feel the more that I know the universe the higher up the enlightened path I go. I suppose if you ever reach the end of that path and know everything about the universe... well I imagine a lot of primitive cultures will see you as God like :D

The Greeks established a few thousand years ago already that the whole truth is impossible, but for some reason mankind has a tendency to seek it, maybe it is just programmed in us.

Well questing after knowledge is one of the few true ways to possible immortality. For instance growing old is in our DNA, when we wax that we will be able reverse aging. Without the knowledge and understanding of the universe we will never get there :D

So we might actually achieve eternal life after all, without God's help.

Depends on how you define God :) I think we need the universes help there :D Without it we would not exist, without it we wont find immorality (or exist). Remember, you speaking to a fellow pantheist so you gotta think outta that normal deity box :D I get confused sometimes also when swopping between them.

To be honest, I haven't ever met another pantheist, however some people have argued that pantheists should really stop using the word God in their terminology, it is very confusing.

Very true really, I reckon though that most of the older Pantheists such as Einstein probably used the word God so that the general population wouldn't kill them.

Pythagoras and Plato were on the ball way before then. Im not promoting socialism though (there is not enough incentive for achievement yet). Im sure Einstein would have seen the shortfalls of it, just like he saw with capitalistic governments of his time.

No, there is no grey because there is no evidence that there is any kind of god at all.

When people say there may be a god because of what ever reason that's fine because they are just speculating.
When people say there is a god then they are talking rubish, there is nothing to back that up, they are making a claim with nothing to back it up.
When people say there is no god, its true because based on the evidence and reality that we live in, its the best answer we have.

Seeing that it is basically just a philosophical insecurity.
