Muslim medical students boycotting lectures on evolution

No again thinking everything can be explained by science is thinking in the box since our science isnt all encompassing yet, sometime theories are formulated before they are fully understood,we dont know everything yet.

If science believed it had all the answers it would be static, like religion.

Very possible, anyone dismissing this is clearly not open to new ideas.....its called thinking out of the box and in our case science may yet

prove to be our box.

No... its the other way round. We have been stuck in the religion box for centuries. (Millenia even)

Science is the way out, its always pushing the boundaries and exploring new ways to look at things.

Science is not a closed box... religion is.

With viruses though there are thousands of species which evolved to do the same, while with homo sapiens it is only one species which evolved to have our level of intelligence.

There were many others. They did not do as well as ours and climate change and probally us, hunted them to extinction. However, there were many other tree`s of humanoids. Some funny looking ones also, like the chinless hobbits.

This is part of how successful they are.

Correction, we are the only species that survived. The neanderthals could also use tools and they wore clothes, their is evidence that humans and Neanderthals interacted and perhaps competed for resources.

There are a few other species that either evolved in parallel or before human kind.... all had the ability to become intelligent like us.

And science while important cant explain everything yet,so maybe there is scientific evidence of an intelligent designer but we letting it pass right before our eyes.
Intelligent Design is not and never will be science. There is no scientific evidence of intelligent design. It cannot be disproven and presents no reliable predictions. Intelligent Design is religion in a lab coat.

Which religion discourages people from seeking the truth or furthering scientific advancement?
Thats bull**** is just atheism marketing and you know it also.

Perhaps we are the Peanut Butter Experiment.

Perhaps intelligent beings outside our universe set our universe in motion to test whether life can result from inorganic matter.

Interesting....

Read what you have said, then go learn about the real world, not just the imaginary one inside your little book.

When last was the Bible/Koran updated ?

Yes.. exactly. Now retract your statement or I will report that as a personal and unprovoked attack.

All of them, particularly the Abrahamic ones.

Heres a qoute from another thread,im still trying to verify it 100% but if its true then your point is BULL**** and no personal attack,REPORT IT NOW IF YOU WANT.....You attacking MY religion and beliefs is also a personal attack IMO as you think we dumb and hold science back.Bleh cry baby.

Until about the 1300s Islam was the centre of learning and scientific advancement but the balance swung towards Europe after then.

If you don't attend lectures then you won't pass the course. Or maybe they can write about how God will heal everyone once they check into hospital? I respect other people's belief systems but then you shouldn't sign up for a course that involves any kind of science and rather go for something more traditional? God helps those who help themselves after all.

That quote is mostly true, at that time Europe was in the Dark Ages. However, after that Europe had the Renaissance, while Islam still remains mired in 13th century ideologies.

As a direct response to the will of the people NOT the religion, the religion did not hold back science in those times and still does not.
They didnt follow a different islam before the 13th century.

Im sure christians will also be able to show eras in history where they advanced science significantly as will the jews, the reality is religion doesn't hold back science.

Correct.

Even so, the learning and scientific discovery had more to do with the Arab world then the Islamic world, these discoveries happened at the same time as Islam was spreading. They had very little to do with the religion other than it was the current religion of choice in that place at the time.

Firstly.... 1300's was about when the Crusades started and about when the east stopped being the center of the scientific world. So you are wrong.

Then in Europe they experienced the reformation and age of enlightenment, it was all about questioning the norms proposed by religion. Science began to flourish during this time.

Do you realise how ironic this is when you post it in a thread discussing Muslims walking out of a science lecture because their interpretation of their holy book (basically their religion) says that science is bullschit?

I'm not saying everyone's religion holds back science but the ones that tell you to trust a holy book over out own physical observations certainly do.

Haha, science hasn't emerged in any irreligious society, well none that I have seen anyway, perhaps anyone can enlighten me. The best they can do is criticize religious societies for not advancing science fast enough in the past.

And please read up on science in the middle ages and how the scientific method was developed :).
