Download Speed: 810 kbps (101.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 323 kbps (40.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 52 ms

Not Bad. I am waiting for my upgrade to a 4 meg line, so wanted to compare the actual speed with the current 1 meg line.

Will post results...

Those results are pretty much what you'll expect from a 1Mbps ADSL line and account.
The only thing that is odd is your latency, which is rather high.

I get similar (about 960kbps down, 460kbps up and 25ms latency). funny thing is 2 weeks ago someone called to try and get me to sign a new contract. they said that i can upgrade to a 2Meg line. I debated with this cos the Do broadband website says maximum speed for my area is 1Mb. lady checked several times with her supervisor and said line speed can be synced at 2Mb.

eventually since a contract offers me nothing else i opted out - but did call 10210 and request myline speed upgraded.... after 1 week of no change on the line speed and several calls and port resets- i was finally called and told the line was upgraded. still no change on the line speed - called in and spoke to a guy who told me that as long as i am getting more then 512kbps it is within spec so he cannot do anything (not even trying to reset the port again). So why pay R139 a month more for exactly what you had? I downgraded again.

Point to note as was in my case -is dont hold your breath for major change with the line speed... but best of luck anyway
