Mweb 1MB Uncapped not allowing full upload speed?

By the looks of things you were on a 384k connection.

I had a similar problem. Upgraded from 384k to 1mb and my speed was capped at 512k. Tested with two ISP's and it was the same.
Contacted Telkom to reset my line and I'm now running at full speed.

Ask telkom to do the same and see what happens.

woops

Last Result:Download Speed: 265 kbps (33.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 118 kbps (14.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: -1 ms

sorry for the hijack guys. with mwebguy following this he can helps a brudda out.

I actually upgraded from 384k as part of free 512k to 1MB upgrade.

It would seem that M-Web only upgraded the download side of the 512k, unlike the rest of the isp's which also changed this in line with the line upgrade from telkom which now sync at 1024k/512k

I have to however say that at this time I am fairly dissapointed with my upgrade to 1Mb from 384k. My ping to Bad Company 2 servers are way lower than it used to be which is good, however things seem to be more jerky and rubberbanding. So I can only assume that the 1Mb connection is shaped more than the 384k?

I like the speed of the downloading but gaming is in my opinion the same if not worse on the 1Mb product eventhough pings are lower.

Also still waiting for feedback on the upstream question...

Update, I would now go as far as to say that gaming is worse on my 1MB connection than it was on the 384k. Maybe it is just temporary since upgrading 2 weeks ago, but feel I need to note it.

I would also like to know why the upload is 256Kbps but line sync is 512Kbps

You are lucky to even get half your line download speed on M-Web. Be grateful for at least that...
+1

I got a 4meg line and the max upload speed i got was just over 1meg, but thats because my exchange is congested.

Mweb?????? Can we please have a answer???????? Other ISP's allow full 512k upload on their 1mb accounts.

Hi Guys

We are waiting on a response form our products team and we will provide feedback as soon as we have more information.

Kind regards
MWEB Guy

Thank you for the response.

Hope the product team can sweet-talk the bosses to allow full 512k upload!

Hi Everyone

Apologies for the delay on this feedback I've been waiting on final confirmation. It seems that there has been some variance in terms of how these lines have been provisioned, depending on DSLAM profiles etc. However I can now confirm that we have made the decision to configure the 1mb products to utilize the higher 512k upload speed, assuming that your line is capable of this. I don't have an exact timeline yet for when the change will be implemented, however it should be fairly soon.

Kind Regards

Hi guys, kinda new here. I'm not very technically minded like most of you guys o this forum. IOW I am completely clueless about this kind of thing (Pinging, latency and so on). All I can tell you is that I have a Mweb 384 Uncapped andd unshaped line and it's pretty good. I get very consistent speeds when diong the P2P thing.

I get between 25 and 40 kps download. It's still very slow when for eg. I watch a you tube video and so on. I'm considering getting either this 1M or a 4M line uncapped and shaped and would like some of your feedback as you guys seem to know what you are talking about. What kind of speed can I expect. Thanks in advanced.

The MWEB shaped packages are atrocious at the moment. Rather get an Openweb GOLD account.

Seems some changes have taken place. Nice! Good Job M-Web Guy and Will

Ok now it's time to sort out the 10mbps upload speed! Brought this up months ago but nothing was done..... it's limited to 512kbps but 10meg lines sync at 1024kbps up..... Mweb just ignored me on this one?

Will?
