Comparing the wrong products. Telkom's TBiz Elite Uncapped Business is equivalent to MWEB's Business Uncapped (Lite) VDSL. Telkom does not have a completely unshaped business VDSL product with static IPs.

R 540.00 (VDSL Line speed 20Mbps)
R2 299.00 (DATA?!?!?)

= R 2 987.37

I can live with the first 2 as a consequence of the abnormality of providing DSL connectivity in S.A.(no need to debate it here),but surely the R2K from Mweb is data and here I thought the slew of undersea cables were going to save our a$$es and bring on "Data Nirvana" for the masses, but it seems I was wrong...

Utterly disappointed.

Mweb=Naspers=DSTV=expensive. I dont see iptv becoming a reality in the foreseeable future atleast not with mweb.

In all honesty you might say I am crazy but, those prices are acceptable given Mweb's network.
If the MWEB Business Uncapped VDSL 40Mbps - R10,699 p/m (VDSL router included). option was available to me now I would take now.....

Mweb's network is almost 100% better than TelkomSA & Afrihost.......

These prices are actually not bad provided you get proper business contention and support - specifically not the current ADSL run-around where there is no SLA from Telkom for the lines. I would only be unhappy if I were down for a few days AND had to pay for said days on top of this.

Can all of you please wake up to the BUSINESS component here. The residential option for just over R3 999 for 40Mbps doesn't sound too bad as you know the ISPs are still stuck with the IPC story and the people that get this are intending to use MASSIVE bandwidth. Those that just want the speed will get the capped accounts (ala VOX). Telkom pricing doesn't really look much better, plus I am always wary of their packages.

Don't get me wrong, I wish uncapped could be cheaper, but I am realistic in terms of the structure of the market (i.e. Telkom local charges for line and IPC) vs the parts the ISPs can control (international transit). It would be great if we could get the breakdown for this to compare it to the ASDL cost structure or a note if there is any major difference in the pricing models.

As far as I know... The TBIZ Elite business products are unshaped(as per previous 'Elite' products), while TBiz Entry, TBiz Basic, TBiz Advanced are shaped. Only difference I know about is that lack of a static ip.

I am not saying MWEb is great, but once you have dealt with Telkom call centres a few times anything else looks a hell of a lot better. I don't see Telkom putting proper business account managers on to these products, so it will be the same service as the ADSL type products.

Note this is the UNCAPPED option, at 40Mbps you can really do ome damage. For most businesses a capped option ala Vox probably makes more sense.

I cant find any evidence of that. The AUP of their highest pre-VDSL uncapped business bundle, 10Mbps ADSL TBiz Premium+, specifically states it is shaped.

Cant see how they would miraculously change the VDSL Biz bundles to unshaped considering they represent a much greater risk for detrimentally impacting their network/access capacity.
