Hey guys :)

Ok so I want to get a 4Mb/s uncapped account (so far with MWEB). I have had a look at their costs (http://www.mweb.co.za/productspricing/InternetAccess/ADSL/BigtimeSurfer.aspx) and I have some questions:

1) How much does voice line rental currently cost?
2) What is the current fair usage limit?
3) Do you have any other suggestions for ISP's?

And Finally, if I add the voice line rantal to the R899 p/m for the uncapped, shaped, 4Mb line, will that be exactly what I pay a month? Or are there other things like CLIP that I have to pay?

Thanx :)

Up until a month ago MWEB was awesome. They've recently installed a new shaper that has messed everything up. Stay away.

Ok but what else??? Is there anything better? There is always ways to bypass shaping....

Ok cool, will look into it now, thanx :)

EDIT: DAMN, the gold uncapped, shaped, 4Mb is R738 without ADSL or voice line rental. That will be over R1000 a month incl.

The Standard option is about the same as Mweb, but what is the difference between gold and standard, from their website it seems very unclear...?

standard, throttle also, even though its not on the website, was posted in the openweb thread, its got that stupid top 20% users thing

HAHA really! That is quite low of them! But can still be bypassed by tunneling (please don't ban me for mentioning that :) ). The Openweb accounts look quite good, but are expensive. How bad is the shaping on MWEB? Can you give me rough idea?

@ hereticangel

Ok so basically the standard account has much worse shaping?

MWEB seems to shape most of the day until about 12am midnight. I see downloads go at about 50KB/s. One thing I do notice is that the only way I can use my full line capacity is to download about 10 files simultaneously each running at about 50KB/s.
