Mweb Capped ADSL

Hi Guys,

Anyone used the Mweb capped service before? I am currently using the Telkom Uncapped LTE @R599 and really struggling at night. My ping is nowhere and is making just normal browsing an issue. During the day its great, at night its plain useless, which is when I really need it!

Looking at capped options on MWEB. 200GB @ R624 pm on a 20mb line or R579 on a 10mb line. Both options look very reasonable. The reason for wanting to go with Mweb is they can do the ADSL line rental portion as well. I have had it with Telkom previously but it was a disaster trying to cancel it when I did move to the Uncapped LTE.

So, whats everyone's feelings on MWEB's capped solution?

Well first check what line speed you can get http://www2.telkom.co.za/checkadsl/check.htm because you have to be pretty lucky to get a stable 10mb/s line and very very lucky to be able to get a 20mb/s line. You should also have a look and what usage you are currently using before buying a capped product.

All ISP's can do the line rental section for you, Mweb's 200gig package is 100 gigs during the day 100gigs between 12pm and 6am and most other ISP's offer uncapped from 12pm-6am on their capped products. Mweb and Webafrica have a full calendar month cancellation period so if you cancel today you have to wait until 1st October to change ISP's, other ISP's don't do this.

Afrihost offer a double data special for R99 so if you take a 200 anytime gigs you can get the 100gig package + afrihost plus = R298.
Mweb are R399 for the 200 anytime, so you get less for more

My top ISP's are Afrihost, Axxess, Crystal Web and Vox but no ISP is perfect.

Webafrica has a really good special on at the moment but I can't get around the cancellation policy and they got some strange things happening on their network http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/594503-WebAfrica-Capped-ADSL/page85.

I used to have a 4mb uncapped line with Telkom. Couldn't fault it. Think my speed was around 3.6mb/s consistently which I was happy with. Used around 140GB's a month. Moved to LTE so I could stream HD Netflix on 2 TV's. Just did a check on line speed available and looks like I can go up to 10mb/s.

Will risk it with one of the other ISP's you mentioned and keep my LTE and see how it goes for 1 month. If all goes well I will somehow dump the uncapped LTE.
