Mweb capped performance.

I recently got my own 4mb 150gb capped line after sharing previously with the flatmate who has a 4mb uncapped premium line.

The adsl line is currently managed by Telkom and I have logged a fault with them.

I primarily use the line for online gaming and immediately noticed a huge difference. For Example World of Warcraft latency is around 900-1500ms and other online options also experience latency issues.

I've run extended ping tests to 8.8.8.8 and 196.2.53.140 which both give me around 15% - 40% packet loss (latter in extreme cases)

Local router pings 100% so no physical issues there, any idea's what could cause this or is this due to shaping ? Why would a capped account even be shaped ?

I don't think it will be due to Shaping depending on the specifics of the Gaming traffic. Yes gaming get high priority but can you say for certain all the servers the gaming traffic passes through?

I checked your line reading and only fine issue with the SNR which is low.

I'm on a 10mb line with a 150GB capped MWEB account.
It pretty much flies at a full 1Mb/s and pings are good too.
It does slow down in the evenings at times . I am sure that is a telkom issue though.

I've been wondering the same thing. I am on the same 150Gb capped package with Mweb.
When you are logged into your Mweb account you can do a linetest and speedtest on your line from within your profile.
When you do the speedtest, the window below comes up. Clearly says "Package : Connect Shaped Capped
I have been advised by users on this forum with far more experience than myself to change over to Vox Fat Pipe data, and that is what I will do end of the month.

I thought it was just me. Oddly enough, on Android only. Not Apple. Will log a call with Mweb. Actually getting dropped messages as well.
