I have just received an sms to inform me that I have been listed with the Credit Bureau due to non-payment on my account. Invoice date was end May.

Signed up for a new ADSL account and gave them all my banking info as required by the signup process. They were supposed to debit my account but it did not happen.

Its probably my fault for not checking to make sure that they debited the account but they could have made some effort before sending me a big fat F$CK YOU :o

Payment is done so now I have to wait & see how much more I have to spend to get my name cleared.

Well done MWEB :erm:

Good Evening, please ensure that you provide us the Proof of payment for urgent assistance. You could email it to [email protected]

Please let me know should you require any further assistance.

Kind regards,

It's amazing how fast you can listed these days even when the problem is not yours. I've been struggling to get 8ta to debit my account for the last 4 months - it seems every alternate month their system fails and then I get a call from some debt collection agency. Useless!

According to law they cant, they bluff all the way! There must be a summons made and be hand delivered to your door, some companies take the other way and may end up paying the customer than the customer paying the business. Also need to wait 3 months before initial warnings, then send summons and then blacklist you.

I think it is possible to be listed at the credit bureau without being blacklisted. Missing a payment creates an entry on the credit record as a warning to others without going the complicated blacklist route.

Either way - my current vehicle finance application will probably fail because of this.

Not true. Thy can and it's only 20 working days they have to wait.

The report your non-payment to the credit bureau - they do not list you. Non-payments and late payments still reflect poorly on your credit record and that fight is a very serious one that you need to have with MWEB...

Ouch. Doesn't look good.

I'll get a report on my credit record. Will send it to the attorneys to see if they can help at MWEB's expense.

They are required to give/send you prior notice before listing you.
If they did not do this they can fak off :) You CAN also dispute the listing with the listed credit bureau !

I would not stress about the sms, it's most probably their Debt Collections department that's sending you 'spam'.
Just give them a call and sort it out.

Alternatively, Credit Ombud is your friend.

Hi MWEB Guy,

Still waiting for a response. The billing department has sent me an automated mail with a case number.

Please DM me the email address you sent your collections request from and I will follow up with them.

MWEB accounts department are sloppy. A few days ago we got sent 3 or 4 months bills on one email saying we had not paid. And then BAM internet cut off. After phoning MWEB, we realised that because the old credit card had expired, all of a sudden the payment had not transferred over to the new one (same account). Yes, I know that it isn't MWEB's job to keep track of new credit cards but surely a notice after the first month would have been adequate?

Hi StevenC

Is the account active again on your side? Has the Credit Card details been updated?

Quick update for everyone. Problem resolved.

MWEB confirmed that they did not list me at the credit bureau and that the payment is showing on their side so it is sorted.

Thanks for the assistance MWEB Guy!

Its only a pleasure :)

It is pathetic on their part to threaten you with the credit bureau in the way that they did. In fact (and this is non-professional opinion) I think it borders on being downright illegal...

I had a runinwith those ****ers a while ago. I was reselling mweb dialup accounts and doing the installations. Ofcourse my details were on the account as the technical contact. When the person i installed defaulted on their monthly account payment i was the one that got listed..... When the credit bureu contatedme i lodged a petition.and i havent heard a thing from them since. Mweb accounts dont know the diff between their elbows and their *******s

The credit bureau is not intended as a bargaining, negotiation or threatening tool at all. Representation of that nature, I am told, is illegal...
