Mweb connectivity issues Cape Town

Hi MWEB Guy

Received a call from one of your colleagues. I will be testing and will get back to you if I have any problems.

Thanks for the great service.

I have same problems , skype keeps dropping and trying to reconnect. really becoming a problem, since i need skype for work. This started last week when the seacom issue happened.

Hi EmporerWolf

Please provide me your MWEB email address or username via PM. Our network team is looking into this as we speak.

I also received a call from Wade and I promised I would post back here once I have had some time to test again.

Skype seems to be connected constantly now (although one message sent yesterday only reached me today) - so I think that has had a step in the right direction.

My second issue has not been resolved yet though. At roundabout the same time the Skype issues started happening I've noticed that secure connections out (SSH on a non-standard port etc) does not work except after several retries. Is this an MWeb problem? I don't know but I checked from two different lines here with two different routers (one with an IPCOP firewall sitting between lan and router, the other directly connected to adsl modem) and both are giving me the same result. SSH initially connects then I get this from the server auth.log:

sshd[10887]: fatal: Read from socket failed: Connection reset by peer [preauth]

Any ideas?

Hi ruan567

Thanks for the feedback. With regards to SSHD connections, we do not block these ports at all. We have no issues with it either as we also use it from our side from time to time. Not a MWEB related fault.

In Cape Town and not seeing any of these issues myself, Skype, VPN and ssh all working well.

Skype problem just returned.

I am experiencing very similar problems to ruan567. SSH connections are dropped by peer suddenly. In our case, this occurs even on port 22 (which is standard for SSH).

I can't play any youtube videos. The site takes about 10 minutes to load, or just doesn't load. Sometimes it opens a page but the video doesn't play.

Is anyone else having this problem?

All other sites work fine.

Same here, I am also experiencing connection problems to MySQL database on port 3306. These ports might not be blocked but shaping might be implemented on them. I queried the same problem previously and it was resolved. Seems it is back again.

Still have the Skype problem , really getting annoying now , since i need it for work.

SSH Disconnects and Remote Desktop issues persisting. No contact back from MWeb technician since he called on Monday. Not impressed.

Hi All

For anyone having issues with Skype, this was asked yesterday on our thread. Please provide us with the information so that our team can have a look.

Also having the skype issues. Works perfect with Google talk for calls, but I need to use skype for work and it often just won't connect at all. Says it is connected, but calls won't go through half the time.

RDP and SSH seem more stable. But now Gmail is highly erratic, with timeouts on send, receive and file uploads. This is getting ridiculous.
