Mweb customer - switch to Afrihost?

Hi lucifir

Cancellation requests are actioned from the date we receive it. For example, if the request was sent on the 20th June, we will process it from the 20th June.

I am following up on this from our side with the cancellations team. Bear in mind there is a calendar month notice period as per the terms and conditions you agreed upon.

thanks for the response mweb guy ..... I was more concerned over the period that it takes to give me feedback that you have my cancellation and it is being actioned, as it has been almost a week and I still have not received feedback other than the automated mail telling me someone will call me soon. So I called your call center and the lady said that it will take up to 2 weeks to process and provide feedback .... so what I don't get is y would a cancellation need to take so long??

Also, I do know about the calendar month notice which is why I got a bit concerned when I sent it last week and did not hear anything since!!

Thanks - might as well sent it through towards the end of July then - gives Mweb a few weeks to release something which will make me stay.

I did last month some time and am still waiting lol.

I'm giving Mweb this one last month. If nothing mayor happens at Afrihost I'll switch back to them once my calendar month runs out.

A question for those of you who have moved. How long did it take for your line to be transferred to afrihost and your dsl be become active? My line is currently with Telkom. I'm planning on moving but don't want to be like a week without internet while lines are moved/accounts setup etc.

Also what is the notice period with AH? Same as Mweb, a calendar month?

About a week but there is no down time . Your line keeps going .

I think mine also took longer coz I was moving from 1meg to 4 meg. So if you are already running the speed you want you can get the data account immediately and bundle it when the line transfer is completed.

Thanks. Sounds good. I'm already on 4Mbps and will be keeping that speed.

It shouldn't take more than MAX 14 days to transfer an existing ADSL line, and will take about the same period to transfer back. But for billing purposes, we do require 30 days notice, so that we can make the transition back as soon as possible. For transferring in we just calculate a pro-rata amount.

There should not be any down time whatsoever while the line is transferred, it is purely a billing and administrative changeover.

Hi Afriman, I am currently on mwebs all inclusive 4meg option so my line resides with them aswell.

If I wanted to port over to you what would the procedure be, would I have to completely cancel my ADSL line and then create a new one trough you from scratch or can I simply post my line over to you?

Now Mweb requires a 30 days notice period, I really dont want to wait, can I pay you upfront for next month, and use your 10meg service while still being subscribed with Mweb?

PS Sorry if this has been asked before, but I am fuming at the moment and dont want to read trough all 11 pages.

You can sign up for data immediately and that will work on any ADSL line. It should also work on any router, unless the router is locked to the ISP, but I don't think anyone is still doing that.

Your line will need to be moved back to Telkom before we can transfer it to us. You'll need to check with your current ISP as to how their tranfer process works. Just make sure they don't cancel the line.

:)

Take note of this. I just transferred to Afrihost and my previous ISP cancelled the line, rather than transfer. Credit to Afrihost and Telkom, once the admin (1 week) was all sorted it was up in 2 days :)

Cancelling means you have to apply for a new service and pray someone didn't pinch your port in the interim.

Awesome, glad to have you with us :)

Hi Afriman...Im also on mwebs all 4meg option but would like to switch to the 10meg bundle option. The telkom line check says that I can only get 4mb in my area...but my isp says it is available (router also indicates 10Mb)...what gives?

I got a second call from MWEB recently to query my cancellation. They asked what prompted me to cancel and I told the lady 'I'm getting the same product at Afrihost for R200 a month less' and her reaction was 'Really?!'. LOL... Mweb should let their employees out once in a while.
