I saw that mweb has a great offer for octotel fibre. 300/300 for the price of 100/100.

It does not seem to be limited to new install, as their cheap 25/25 package is, so I think I'll give it a go. Was over 6 months with Afrihost, so there shouldn't be a penalty. Octotel ONT already in place, so I don't expect further cost.

Any thoughts, or am I overseeing something?

If u took router then there may be a penalty if u cancel within 1st year I think, also I think that offer is only for new installs
Btw it is known on the forum to stay far away from MWEB, they have so many issues and support is terrible, especially when trying to cancel
It is also only for 3 months from this wording:
You will pay the discounted price in the month you go active and 3 full months. Thereafter, you will be invoiced the full retail price. Please note: We reserve the right to change retail and promotional pricing at any time. The promotional price reflects a discount off the current retail price. If the retail price goes up (e.g., due to provider price updates), we may adjust both the retail and promotional prices during the promotion (the discount amount will stay the same). T&Cs apply.

This is probably for new installations, IE if you have a line installed already you dont qualify. Its the same promo for all ISPs. So best to clarify before you cancel and get stuck.

Thanks, will definitely check first. Had my hopes up since I would be a new customer to them, but since they probably eye the kickback from octotel for new lines, it would make sense.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Yeah it seems its a sales tactic, one needs to be very clear with this stuff. Otherwise you end up putting customers through hell unnecessarily.

MWEB was bought out by Webafrica. Webafrica have the worst reputation on this forum for customer service. So enjoy being with the kakkest ISP.

Thanks for the heads-up.
No problem, if Afrihost isn't giving any issues, would be best to stay with them, you can always raise issues here and they can assist, if all else fails, Cool ideas and Websquad are your best bets if Afrihost isn't for you

should i go with Cool Ideas ? i have Fibre outside on my street but NO Fibre Inside! Octotel is in Street area and Openserve and Frogfoot.

i am in Lakeside Muizenberg.. I am So Sick of Rain 5G
We would be happy to help, pop your address into our site and it will list your options.

howzit bru. whats the internet like on your network ? does it Ever! Go Down ?
I've been with them like idk 7 years or 8 I lost count, I don't even know my Coolzone password  that being said I'm on a *touch wood* very stable solid Vumatel network

All ISPs experience outages, but we have the best performing network in SA and Africa for that matter rated by Ookla results.

And having presence here does help with escalations.

Fibre should always provide a superior and more consistent performance vs a wireless product.

isn't Vumatel $h!t ?
Depends on your region, my area since day 1 has had maybe 1 or 2 outages for maybe 20-30 minutes max and this is probably about 8 years. One of those was during peak loadshedding
