MWEB Gaming Feedback

Really sorry you feel that way Serapheem. I am doing everything I can to get to the bottom of this issue and find a solution. I spent probably the better part of two hours today over the 18h00 period taking fresh traffic captures, traces and ingame video before, and after on various accounts and putting together a full brief on exactly what the issues are so that I can push for some answers.

As I said Will....you are the man! I do take my hat off to you! You have a good evening !! And again, thank you so much for your troubles. Now, go to bed. We fight again tomorrow :)

Well I hope you will at very least keep an eye on the situation and consider coming back once we get these issues ironed out. I really don't like losing customers and while I completely understand your frustration right now I know that we have a lot of exciting things planned on the gaming front and I'd hate for you to miss out :) No sleep for me just yet I'm afraid. I still need to get a look at Blackops and Steam is dragging it's heels getting me patched up.

Will, thanks for the feedback. If mweb are prepared to speak with other ISP's (namely Virgin UK maybe?) they can 'maybe' get us gamers back on track soon. But it will require some dedication from Mweb's team of network gurus.

Virgin acknowledging the fact that their service/ shaping is causing some issues with wow: http://community.virginmedia.com/t5...e/World-of-Warcraft-Latency-Issues/m-p/161857

Virgin have stated that they are working on it, and it will take a few weeks to get the right packets setup for their shaping to to see the data as gaming (high priority) and not p2p.

Just thought I'd drop these links here for those interested to have a read. Maybe this is what Mweb need to also focus on doing?

Why would it be fine before 18:00 when p2p is bad and get worse after 18:00 when p2p is less shaped?

Well to be honest, my latency is pretty crap with mweb no matter the time of day. But don't ask me how Mweb's shaping works, ask Mweb.

I AM LOVING THIS!!!!!!

It is 04:15PM and my ping is as s^&* as after 06:00 PM <3 u guys Mweb, seems like this is now the end of the year and will only get looked at or should i say fixed next year, it has been what now ?.......2 months ?, loving this!!!!!

cant download during the day, now i cant play wow during the day, can hardly download during the night and not wow @ all during night so yeah i guess we pay 500 bucks for a 1/4 of the bandwidth!!!

My patience wears thin. Had exactly the same cr@p and excuses from Openweb, with promises to fix the problems I was having back then with one of their products kinda ringing true here as well. Will, you are a great person (and I thank you for sticking it out in a 61 page thread) but I seriously cannot believe MWEB is not looking in to this more seriously. Surely 2 months is time enough to obtain some inkling of what is going on?

Just when I thought I had found something nice from an ISP at a price worth paying (I am not made of money), this happens and I have to spend more money just so I can entertain myself on weeknights. I would love to see that other poster who had an argument earlier on in the thread come in here now and tell us to "log off and go do something else, it will be fixed soon". I think even he would have changed his tune by now.

To make matters worse, I work retail in a well known chain of a computer store (Will, you have probably been in my store as you live in my area!), so I make recommendations to clients on a daily basis as to whom I think has the best value for money as an ISP. Without a doubt, I would always say MWEB. I don't know how much longer I will be saying that for.

- sigh

My average WoW latency ( if i manage to log in at about 1 am ) is, get this - 20 000.
I also used to play on the WoW-beta servers, but i cannot even log into my account anymore...
The average time i get to stay online in any shooter before the network drops me - 8 minutes.
Time it takes to load gmail 7 minutes.
Time it takes to open an email 10 minutes ( after about 10-20 timeouts )
My download speed on local sites are usually - 4kb/s
And my international download speed is - 0.8 kb/s ( yes thats right 800 BYTES per second)

I dont mind having some problems with connectivity for a while, but seriously, i cannot play bfbc2, i cannot play cod4, i cannot play MoH, i canot play mw2, i cannot play Guild wars and i cannot use any kind of voip application. the instability of the lines are just unacceptable, and with x-mas closing in its safe to say that these problems are here to stay until next year.

So im praying to the mweb-gods that a solution is found to the utterly **** service mweb is giving me before the end of the month, or im changing isp's...

(and will thank you for being the only person in the history of the internet to actually take time to find out what the problem is and trying your best to solve it, you deserve a hi-5)

I really wish there was more feedback I could give you guys at this point, but I can assure that this has been given top priority and we are consulting with our vendors on the issue in the same manner that Virgin is. As soon as I have any progress to report on you will hear it.

Thanks, I really hope an answer presents itself soon!

@Chris3, dude I'm pretty sure it's your line that's ****ed, not mweb. My mweb is working splendidly...

i dont want to be hijacking the thread, but i called the support line and they ensured me that nothing is wrong with my physical connection, and seeing as how no one else in my area has connection problems, well fingers start pointing.

ill give mweb and hellkom another ring, but ye...

Chris I would have to agree, what you're experiencing is definitely not the norm - please PM your account details to MWEB Operations and ask the team to arrange a proper troubleshoot with one of our specialists for you.

guys try to put some effort from your side(users) , sure you can go buy r60 a gig webafrica bandwidth and play, but would not be nice playing fine on mweb also?

if i can play on mweb with 320ms so you can you also.(without mtu fixes)

so maybe try running a game proxy see if it works? worked fine for me.( the guys that is complaining).

go check if line is stable .
Bandwidth Down/Up(kbps) 512 / 256
SNR Margin Down/Up(dB) 33.0 / 13.0
Attenuation Down/Up(dB) 40.0 / 21.5

my stats and that is 100% stable.

Check if mweb account is working on another pc and area ,maybe your area is overloaded at 6.

try to check that stuff then ask for some feedback from mweb :)

Why are most complaints on here are regarding WoW(don't know what ppl see in that game but anyway) :/

How about you disable your proxy/tunneling service, and then see how good Mweb is. I already pay a ton of cash for online gaming. I'm not prepared to pay more, for a service I can only use on one game. Paying for a proxy service, is just another work around.
Sick of work arounds, and just want a working product. end of story. I'm sure many others feel the same way.

Will I think the way things are going MWEB is going to lose allot of gamers as clients
Local gaming is shot since MWEB cut their peering links
The only decent speed you get would be to MWEB’s servers which no other users in the country can access with decent speed so mostly empty servers is probably going to be the norm

And there isn’t exactly allot of games being hosted there anyway (so far this will hopefully improve)

And then almost all the WOW players is unhappy too
