MWEB Gaming Feedback

I signed up for WebAfrica, but then cancelled at the last minute after the MTU change i got from an Mweb techie, they even called me after hours to see if it was working, great service, now only if it was like that if we didnt have to threaten to cancel our ISP account. lol

but im happy, as long as i can play my ****in game i pay R115+ for every month. Smooth casting and reasonable latency for rogueing about. as well as fast downloads, all is well in my world

yeah i am to, thought it will be bad, but tried my luck.

fine for wow, black ops i get 40ms.

my http downloads is 60kps on 512kps line lol, that's in shaping hours also.

Will I think the way things are going MWEB is going to lose allot of gamers as clients
Local gaming is shot since MWEB cut their peering links
The only decent speed you get would be to MWEB’s servers which no other users in the country can access with decent speed so mostly empty servers is probably going to be the norm

And there isn’t exactly allot of games being hosted there anyway (so far this will hopefully improve)

And then almost all the WOW players is unhappy too

Ok please just resolve the transit issue with telkom or pay them its bloody annoying to go onto a local gaming server and have to sit and wait for certain users to join a game based on their ISP :/

right so its like yesterday so i guess that = no wow for me this week or not in the next 2 months, guess I will need a new ISP when cata is here or something, coz this is ridiculous, and all we getting is "this is being looked at with priority"

first it was crap from 6pm now its from 11am......

While I have not gone as far to cancel my entire MWEB account I have unforunately had to decide to downgrade from the uncapped unshaped to plain uncapped.

The money saved more than covers for WTFast subscription and prepaid vouchers from Axxess.

I'd prefer to work with only one ISP though, but for the time being this seems to be the only alternative.

Trying to update steam on my 4m account so I can get COD Black Ops installed but its just sitting at 6% for almost an hour now.

Seriously, **** THIS. I have done everything in my power to get WoW to stop lagging with mweb. I even switched from WTfast to battleping (cause battleping worked) and wtfast were having troubles. Now, guess what. Mweb is getting worse, got 6 months of battleping, worked for the first week and now with Mweb its ****ed also.

Mweb is definitely not doing everything in its power as a multi million rand ISP to fix this issue. After 40 days of lag, i think Mweb should give me my money back for 2 months + wow subscription and WTfast/battleping fees.

Yes, this rant is called for, i cannot be blamed for this, its gone on long enough.

Edit: I received info about which port change the tunneling services implemented to bypass the lag previously, if they implement others again please dont break those too mweb, cause the first ones they changed are also being shaped or whatever you want to call it now.

40 days of lag is enough, posts like mine are expected now, so sorry if ppl feel it is out of line. Oh yeh, and P2P and well as port 119 dl's are going at a blazing 0 kb/s

How is it that there are so many damn flamers here about? I can play my mweb fine with about 400ms (Yes, I use a proxy service. But it's free) If I can manage that, why can't some of you just start doing something? Instead of ****ting on yer arse and bitching to mweb. They KNOW there is a problem. They don't know EXACTLY what is the problem, once they've managed to isolate the cause they can fix it. Until then, just wait.

Oh, you use a proxy service that is free? Where do you get one of those? Cause the only proxy services i see i have to pay for...Battleping, Wtfast, smootherping, lowerping, have to pay for all of them. Guess your talking about the 20 minute trail, which dc's you every 20 minutes, this isnt really good for raiding/pvp you know.

Btw, Magnarmalok, its always easy to say dont bitch and ask people to be patient/sound calm when your one of the few people without the lag issues. Every time i see this, the people who dont have the issues say "calm down" while in another game where the tables are turned they are the ones raving and the people bitching now like me will say "calm down, dont flame"

Guess what, thats how it works, or do you think its fine to pay for a service that isnt working at all and which worked previously? Do you think its fine to sit 40 days without any reasonable improvement?

Edit: Btw, I havent really bitched before, i started posting and trying to help Will find the source from page 4 of this thread round about, but there has to come a point when it is reasonable to start bitching and being an arse.

@Will@Mweb

How do i go about setting a date for my subscription to be terminated, I've checked the website but i cannot find the option.... and how long is the notice period?

+1 mag, will is trying hes best, and the rest is just not even trying, you guys go pay R60 a gig for wow(or isp that throttle after a few gigs) il be same ms with my uncapped as actually trying something on my side.

http://www.reducethelag.com/

free proxy, set on website eu test. when 30 day trail is up, reinstall with new account, just need new free email address.

i get 400ms with the MTU change to 960 only.
no need for other services imo

What I don't understand is why not EVERY MWeb subscriber is affected? I usually have no issues, and we (Wife, son and I) even raid ICC 10 without issues on a 2Mb line with a 384 uncapped account. I do get the occassional lag spike, but I have no permanent issues, that people seem to have here.

I haven't changed any settings on any of the machines. I don't use ANY form of proxying, so I usually raid in the 600-1000ms range, and despite what the latency says, it's usually very responsive.

So it begs the question, is there something wrong with MWeb in certain areas and not in others? And apart from it being JHB vs CT (where the two primary exchanges are), I don't see how it could be MWeb's issue?

Another thing I have noticed, is that occassionally, I will have massive lag issues on my machine, and yet my son has no issues... Once on a Sindy fight, my son (he sits next to me, so it's easy to see) and I were lagging badly, but his machine caught up. My machine managed to play the whole fight back to me, with about a 3 minute delay... My guildies had managed to corpse crawl back before I even died.... I'm a healer, so it's not like I'm going to tank sindy for more than 0.1ms....

Just a thought.

wow you guys Heretic and Magnar, wow so now that you guys don't have issues with internet now its our fault internet that is messed up. I work in a High end internet speed reliant environment, even within 24 hours we sort out stuff like this that take mweb 40 days and they just f^&* it up more, my ping was fine during the day and now its crap, my downloads are on 0kb/s even http is moving like a snail. Now because you dont have issues just go away.

O and btw, I have a 1gig axxess account and it is shaped to S^&* during the day (prepaid stuff) and my pin in wow is 250ms, so how can this be that a crappy account is better than the uncapped account ? I can hardly browse with my mweb account normal http sites like mynroadband all because "its being looked into with top priority"........i call bluff, and you know what i bet you that mweb is checking this out at most an hour a day or have a guy there that they pay nothing and locked in the basement looking at the issue.........

i am so tired of this S&*^, paying 500 bucks for this S%^&.......

The solution is simple, cancel mweb and move to another ISP. My friend is on openweb and hes happier than ever.

ok, for pvp u need REALLY decent low latency so the tunneling services are a definite must.
Im a PVE boytjie, forgot about you pvp blokes and blokettes xD

Pve is required as-well, half a second delay in shadow trap on LK 25 hc, and you're pretty must toast, or how about not tranqing the enrage on a shambling horror, or how about not popping a hot or heal on a tank just before the boss go's into a mini enrage. My point is stop being complacent with this bad service mweb is giving. "we are looking into the issue", they are a network, it should not take them over a month to sort out issues like this. Especially since other ISPS in this country are not having similar problems.

@Heretic,
I guess you don't understand the difference between free and trial. Battleping was in beta mode a while back. During that time of the trial, you could run the app for 'free'. Now its pay to play. Your super advertising for reduce the lag is not going to change the fact that it too will be pay to play very very soon. And why must I create tons of email addresses? Just so I can trial it for a month. No thank you.

Gaming latency is broken with mweb. Those of you who might be experiencing less lag, I can only assume are running Win 98/Win 2000 or WinXP 32bit. Not that I want to make the OS our problem.
I'm on Win7 64bit. And I'm very sure all the other guys having issues are running on the same OS. Now this doesn't mean we get to blame microsoft for round 4 of the LAG FIGHT.
I can run my game perfectly fine on my FREE Afrihost 1gb account, and my pre-paid WA account. Both of those give me a standard ping of 300ms - 400ms.

But for some (known) reason our mweb connection gives us issues.

i will try without proxy tonight, but sure il be fine aswell.

no its free because they loophole in there system . that is not beta its just gives 30 free day trail to test it.

i am running win 7 64bit.
