MWEB Gaming Feedback

I've been reading these last few pages but can't find an explanation why my traffic to WAGE is going via London?

Because you don't live in Cape Town.
On another note, Steam still seems to be unable to login via MWEB.
Oh it seems it just takes a while for some reason...

One thing about bfbc2, my in game latency is fine ( usually around 115-150 ) , but when i try to "update my stats" it just times out. so i cannot see what my stats are or look at the leader boards, frustrating since i really want to know how far away i am from certain achievements, gold stars etc.

oh and will, is there some site or a post or something that lists all areas that have crappy connections due to telkoms incompetence ? It would save me some time if i could just go and see instead of calling telkom and waiting inline for an eternity.

You're a goddamn genius. Thanks for the insightful post, nob.

Okay, let me try:

In Cape Town, there is CINX, the Cape Town Internet Exchange. At this exchange, CT MWeb and CT WebAfrica are peering. Therefore CT Mweb Clients can see WebAfrica servers as local. CT WebAfrica clients can see Mweb as local.

In Johannesburg, there is JINX, the Johannesburg Internet Exchange. MWeb is resident at this exchange, but WebAfrica is not. Therefore JHB Mweb Clients cannot see WebAfrica servers as local and transits the traffic internationally. JHB WebAfrica clients cannot see MWeb servers locally, and transits the traffic internationally.

In order that all Mweb and WebAfrica traffic is seen as local across the two networks, it requires WebAfrica to peer with Mweb at JINX. This is something that will happen "pretty soon" according to WebAfrica. Until then any traffic between the two networks that originates in, or transits via JHB will be routed internationally, and therefore subject to international latency.

That's an odd one Chris. I've had absolutely minimal hassles with the in game multiplayer screens and stats myself, maybe you have some sort of cache corruption, or something of that nature that's causing a problem?

As an alternative you could always look yourelf up on bfbcs.com - I haven't actually looked at the in-game stats since finding this site.

In answer to your second question no unfortunately not, but if you think you might be having a problem PM your details to the MWEB Operations account on here and ask them to get the congestion checked on your line. It can sometimes take a little while, but we are generally able to get the question answered.

if your steam take very long to log in it is updating.( not think its updating ,but it does rape my internet)

i run app called bandwidth monitor every time i open black ops it seems to use my internet to its max for a few sec then log in, so if slow line that part might take longer.

I'm lazy and can't seem to find the answer easily. What is generally the best MTU figure for WoW EU latencies?

WoW latency this weekend: 5000ms and climbing while using WTFast.

Who has a cancellation form handy?

Well, I only tried 960, because I liked the sound of it. But it worked well on two different PCs. Both players are still getting good latencies, with no spikes.

Hey will, I'm experiancing the same, server browser and stats are slow but ping to igames is 100-150ms and stable.

getting ping between 100-180ms on bfbc2 servers on igame.

my fingers say i pulled the trigger 5 times but the game says that not even one shot went of before i died.

Yeah my ping on BC2 are 400 to 500 also pull trigger and nothing happens then I die

Marine those are what you can expect at the moment if you are referring to SGS servers as we don't have a peering arrangement with SAIX, pings to igame are good and to WAGE if you are in Cape Town.

@DCBloodHound, that doesn't sound right - my server browser shows igame pings of 35-45ms. The scoreboard in game usually shows me around the 100-120 mark and gameplay feels very smooth.
Can you show us a trace to one of the igame servers?

Thanks for the heads up, kinda sucks to be so limited atm but I guess time will change that.

I have a bottle of Precognition Drops you can buy... in the unlikely event, after one drop, that you fail to see 500ms into the future, it is still a sure-fire, money-back guaranteed cure for BC2 death. One more drop on the tongue and you're as right as rain. Guaranteed. Or your money back.

To all the folks that are having trouble viewing their profile in bfbc2, use this link to see your profile

http://bfbcs.com/BFBC2_leaderboard/pc
( if you search and it says your not found, just press the update thing in the top-right bit under create account/login button).

Will gave it to me and it's a lot better than the in game one, way more stats are shown and you can see all the stats of any other player ( amount of kills with x - weapon etc. ). Use it...
