MWEB Gaming Feedback

Well I was told at BT Cavendish that it was a "BT games ISP" which is optimised for Gamers, so I do not think that would be MWEB. I thought 5gb was worth going for until they told me I had to call for activation and then I just thought there is no such thing as a free 5gb and what strings were going to be attached.

However, today at least on MWEB, Cata installed and the latency is not that bad without using a low ping proxy so maybe things are looking up!

Was able to play on my 384 uncapped for the first time in months, 600ms-1k ms. While downloading patch updates in the background. :D

I doubt this will last. And most likely is nothing more then a fly-by-night thing. You people have been suffering for months with lag then all of a sudden when WoW-Cata comes out it disappears? It seems to me all that MWEB have done is unblock everything so that u lot can play for a bit and stop moaning while making u lot think everything is fixed . Ile give it a few days till MWEBs Network has a epileptic fit and everything has to be blocked again to maintain stability.

Quite the happy camper. With all the issues that wow has had recently, you don't think it could also have been a bug on their side which has now been fixed via the release of Cataclysm. Just a thought.

Great thinking MadCat. I've actually been trying to get rid of all our Wow customers before Cataclysm released and then on the day it came out I decided to let the ones who stayed have a few lag free hours, just because I'm sadistic that way. Tonight I will reactivate the /makethemlag script and spend another sleepless night pretending to help our networks team figure out what's causing this, because secretly I've been the one doing it all along.

I'm sorry, but you are clearly not my customer and even I have a troll threshold - however I do have one product you might be interested in - it's a tinfoil hat that comes with a built in antenna to help you receive those conspiracy theories in HD.

/rant off

now to the MWEB customers, particularly those in Cape Town, can you please give me some feedback on your experience from last night, or if you didn't use your MWEB account last night then please check tonight for me - proxy and MTU fix free please (leave on the Leatrix fixes, because those are just good commonsense)

Thanks
Will

Oh how I do love my conspiracy theories!. However, when you start posting client history on public forums because clients are unhappy that's enough for me. Canceling MWEB now.

I don't see a post with your client history here nor anyone else.

Anyways, seems Steam login is Fubar'ed again with Mweb Uncapped. Haven't been able to log in since Monday with it. Axxess prepaid seems to work though.

I'll check now Xennox - I think MadCat is referring to the AUP discussion, where I caused an uproar by accidentally mentioning the first name of the poster in public, I have already apologized for this.

Bearing in mind that the same complaint had also been raised via our Facebook page where the user displays his mybb nick as part of his Facebook username so anonymity had already been waived by the OP.

Hmm I think Kosmik is right
Sounds to me like they fixed the issues with cataclysm's release.
From what Will has said (or more have not said) I don’t think MWEB made any changes in last couple of days to fix this

Madcat what do you think something like this would produce
“Ile give it a few days till MWEBs Network has a epileptic fit and everything has to be blocked again to maintain stability.”

If that was the case then why is allot of other games working perfectly?
Why is it that there is other ISP’s internationally that have had the same issue after that patch was added months ago.

Yes MWEB had (or maybe still have) a issue with WOW but I would say the chances of the WOW guys fixing it in this major upgrade is rather large since it appears to be something they broke with a patch

As for history providing a person first name is not really a major issue to me and hardly providing the persons history.

However I guess that some people may feel like you have opened the internet realm to their identities

Kind of makes it a bit pointless if you have a facebook account anyway but that’s just me

Maybe he wanted to be able to bitch on my broadband and not have someone know who he is :)

@Will any news on the local gaming fix?

If you mean the Telkom peering situation I don't have any news on developments there.

There are some other things in the pipeline that I'm dying to spill the beans about, but you'll have to be patient for hopefully not too much longer.

LOL Pawned.

Thanks Will, will do some testing tonight. I didn't even try on mweb last night cause I felt like a super smooth first night in the new zones, but will definitely give it a swing this evening.

Possibly starting in january ;) ?

@Xennox

Are you in JHB, or CPT - I've just switched to my DSL connection and can consistently log in to Steam without any issues. I've noticed that it is choosing WA's steam server as a connection point, which would explain the difference in experience for JHB customers as they will probably end up going to an international server. We are working on something to improve this and I will update you with the details in the near future.
