Mweb Local Uncapped Trial

You sure you are on a 512k like?

Well, I did call Telkom on Friday and asked them to push us up to the fastest, but they said it would take 7 working days. maybe they did it in one working day? But I have had no phone call from them to confirm that the upgrade request has been completed. Remember though that downloading from a news-server is pure text and this is local so it is typically much faster.

Ok, does anyone know how i can get capped without using up my out of package options? I'm on 1037mb, and i've ended my session, yet it hasn't switched to local yet:mad: It's started to charge me per mb i use now:confused:Is there no way to turn this pay per mb thing off? I've switched it to the minimum which is R100, but i really don't want to have to spend another R100 to get capped:rolleyes:

Can't you turn it off in the console @ myadsl.mweb.co.za ?
I gladly never enabled it...R200/gig :sick::sick::sick::sick::sick:

I've looked everywhere in the console and there is no option to turn it off:( The only thing i can do is lower my out of package pay per mb to R100. I'm definately over my cap now as i have been charged R7 for the additional 35 mb. So has anyone else managed to turn off this service, or do you have to use up your "out of package" before you are capped?:mad:

I guess you'll have to call their customer care. Remember to have your e-mail address handy.

EDIT:
Not gonna work.

I decided to do some tests, so I started downloading stuff about 6pm, and i let it run for 2 hours flat on my 384 line. I've just logged into the myadsl console, and another 40mb has been taken off my out of package bandwidth  I must have done about 200mb of local in those 2 hours. This was a new session, and there is no chance that any international could have been used at all. I'll ring customer support tomorrow and find out what is going on.
As for that earlier suggestion, i tried to enable a booster, but it will only be effective as of the 1st of next month since im on pay per mb now.

dude. the uncapped local is only after the international is finished

Got a confirmation email today in reply to my question about uncapped local and Mweb said that it is indeed uncapped but that it is a trial period only. Didn't say for how long.

Um yes I am aware of that - i finished my cap early this morning. Mweb have some ghey option where you get charged per mb if you go over your cap, or to purchase an additional 1 gb "booster". There doesnt seem to be a way to disable either option. I assumed that once you had been capped you switched to local access. Not so. Ive been downloading local for the past 4 hours now, and ive just logged into the mweb console to find out that ive been charged an additional R113 for another 500mbs usage:sick::sick: I have been charged per mb, and even after multiple disconnects all my local access is being billed as international.. So just a word of warning to anyone else out there. And yes i did disconnect multiple times after i was capped to start a new session, so im not sure how this works. Maybe i was unlucky:(
Can anyone else give some feedback on this?

To check whether you're capped (applies only to SAIX users [incl. resellers like webafrica/axxess/mweb/etc]), check your internet IP address -- if it begins with 165.165.x.x then you're capped. Otherwise (41.240.x.x) you're not capped and could be billed for excess use.

They stab you in the back with the Pay per Meg option.
If you chose Buy Booster option BEFORE you were capped and turned OFF autobooster, then you would have local-only directly after you have exceeded you cap.
You can switch anytime from Buy Booster option to Pey per Meg option, but not Vice Versa. Because you have to wait until the start of the next month before it switches back to the Buy Booster option.

This is just a filthy, greedy way to milk the users by forcing them to use at least R100 of cap (500Mb).

So summing up, if you have local-only and you want international, then you HAVE to pay R100, no matter what option you choose. So it makes the Pay per Meg option pointless and twice as expensive.
