Mweb Local Uncapped Trial

Nooooooooooo. Its for existing clients only.

But they don't state that its for only for existing clients. then what would be the point to comply with the ICASA (hope I got that right:D) new rulings anyways

no cavedog def not for existing. i signed last month they laughed when i said that was a rumour. maybe its new maybe its not. its still alive and awesome! :)

Hi guys, according to my sources, the local uncapped promotion has already ended, you will only get 10gb local once you have been capped, but apparently this is still in a "testing phase" (whatever that means)

I seem to have stretched that 10 Gb a little bit far

two things.... If the promotion is over, why has Mweb not send out an e-mail like they said they would?... and why does it still say in their promotional literature that we can download as much local as we want?

/methinks you better check with your "sources" again. ;)

Pfft, you're only ~70GB over, give the system time to kick in :p:D

me agrees 100% with Garyvdh

Shouldn't LOCAL BW be free anyway? After all its all about local connections,
no need to pay ALTER.NET or whoever else for access to the world outside
our borders?

Can anyone confirm that it is over?

Are they charging us for the extra bandwith?

Yes, it IS over

The new rates are R100.00 for every Gig of local over the allowed 10 Gb.

And no News Servers or P2P allowed or you will be banned.

Apparently some people were abusing the system and have screwed it up for the rest of us.

too bad... it was nice while it lasted. :p

From when, I have exceeded the 10 gig limit for this month? I did not receive any emails from Mweb? I am sure everyone has exceeed there 10 gig limit!!!

do you believe everything you read on the internet?

of course it is NOT over...

1) there has been no e-mail. Mweb said they would send one when the trial was over.

2) the local uncapped is still working, if it was on a pay per basis, you would have been capped until you bought some more.

3) the uncapped local is still mentioned on their ADSL pages, you would think they would take it off there if the trial was over... seeing as how somebody might sign up under a false impression?

One guy comes on here and says he has heard from "sources" that it is over... and you guys all go into a panic!

Did you hear that Christmas has also been cancelled this year?

Dam u, gave me a heart attack.

I really do wonder when they are going to cancel it though.

I hope everyone starts going the local uncapped route

well, the end of this month does make the sixth month of the trial... so if it goes much longer I might be tempted to think that Mweb is going to make it a permanent thing.

When they introduced it they said in the e-mail that this was done to comply with the ICASA regulations saying that local access should be "uncapped". Maybe they were hoping that some of the other ISPs would follow them and thus force Telkom's hand.

I am hoping that Mweb holds out and makes it a permanant feature. I was about to cancel my mweb contract... but with this... I have reconsidered.

Well, how long did their Wi-Max trials last? Something like a year iirc, and even then they only stopped cause they were told to.

Apologies to everyone for the misinformation regarding mweb's new capping policy...it seems like i gotta bad "source".:o
