Mweb Local Uncapped Trial

Well well - mweb pulled a telkom - who'd a thunk it. I'm kind of glad I gave them my notice last month.

ja, turns out you guys were right... but I fully intend to use my uncapped this month! :p

canceling in the morning, axxess is only R10 a gig for local saix.... R20 more a gig what a waste of time MWEB....

carefull gary, they say they gona start charging from 1st of may? maybe they charge us for april usage over the 10gb. any thought? i'm worried to download a whole lot then on the 2nd of may i get a fat bill and they say ya, theres warnings on the site...

seems pretty clear to me...

As from the 1st of May 2009, you will receive 10GB of FREE Local-only ADSL data per month. Any usage thereafter will be charged at 3c per megabyte. This is not a capped service and we will notify you once you’ve used your FREE allocation.

as from the 1st of May, any usage over your allotment will be charged.

hmmm right u are. i'm just pretty paranoid. still waiting on my mail. gona phone em tomorrow either way *sigh*

You'll still be paying for May. It's probably why they sent it out today (unless it was a bit of a twisted April fools stunt).

good bye mweb, thanks for saying we wont cancel in the near future, yeah right, is this an aprils fools joke? because last time I checked you denied plans to cancel uncapped local and now all of a sudden "not anywhere in the near future" means 1 month..

guys, forget about the idea that it could be an Aprils Fools Joke. you are in denial :P :P for further proof, just check mweb's pricing page for adsl accounts.

They havent changed it
What do I do once my data cap is reached?

Good news for all MWEB ADSL customers. As of 1 February 2008, MWEB is launching a trial program offering local-only bandwidth to customers who reach their data cap limit - which means you can enjoy continued access to Internet services hosted in South Africa after you use up your monthly data.*

...

* This is to conform with recent regulations issued by ICASA regarding the provisioning of ADSL service

ok my friend bwana, u are right. i'd like to state that something very fishy is going on. believe me or not but i know wat i saw and still have the page open to prove it. however, refresh the page and the info changes. i need to get the screenshots to someone to upload somewhere. here's the thing:

i opened the page before i posted, saw the whole story about charging 3c a mb after the 10gb cap. it also had another column listing 10gb FREE local per each account (even like the 12gb or wateva). now the page is different. the pricing is gone and so is that column. so the question i pose to you folk is... WTF?!?

iv captured the page and am willin to email the images to anyone who can upload them somewhere
*edit: no need, i've refreshed the page again and the columns and pricing are back. very weird stuff going on.

columns and pricing gone again. its 2am!! could they possibly be working on the site now? wth is going on!?

If you cancel today you will not be charged for May, think about it the email was send out on the 1st (in the evening) this leaves the entire next day to cancel as they are sending this out after hours. No one should legally be charged for May.

"MWEB’s Cancellation Terms and Conditions
-The agreement can be terminated upon prior written notice of 1 (one) calendar month by either party.

-Suspension will not result in any refund by MWEB of pre-payments made to MWEB

-In the event of suspension, no refund will be made to the account holder and any outstanding balances remain due and owing and are required to be settled within 30 days of suspension."

I just saw this on the top of the cancellation letter draft.

"MWEB would rather not lose you as a member! Is there is anything we can do to change your mind? Please email us and we will call you."

Kind of ironic really.....

You will have to pay for this month and next month if you cancel your account.

They say on calendar month's notice. So its the month after the next 1st of the month - anyway thats what they said in the email I recieved from them.

well timed from them... they get an extra month out of everybody! typical vampires.

I phoned them. I expressly asked about that. They said if you cancel today you will not be charged for May. But it has to be today.
