MWEB - Message from CEO - Acceptable Use Policy

no. Using a service like torrentflux or aerovps.

Oh.....*phew!* :D

Sorry if I sound a bit stupid, but how exactly does these torrent boxes work?

Is it the equivalent of downloading a file normally through a browser, though it gets its bits-and-pieces from multiple sources?

Like for ex. Getting a torrent off TPB and letting it download through uTorrent?

No, it's a service. You pay and they download the torrent for you so you can download it without the shaping low speeds.

how likely is it that this targeting of abusers is related to the prolonged seacom outage?

Jack, can you answer the same questions king_kraig has? It'll help you get an idea and will help us try get some hold on what constitutes abuse.

Thanks k_k - much appreciated. So no tunneling, http torrent downloading etc?

welcome. never use torrents...

wel i think i'm also going to be cut off when i get home, but sofar i been using a hotfile account, downloading Hd documentries, demo's , some Tv episodes and also a lot of youtube , and internet radio, do around 400-600 gb max per month for the last 3 months with Mweb.

usually the shows are downloading while i'm at work ( not even at full line speed ) then when i get home i do youtube and the radio

Used to be with axess express + and did way more than this and they never had any issues.

ahh...ok I think I get it

You want a movie, for ex., they download the 4GB movie for you and then you download the whole thing straight from them when they are finished?

But you paid a lot more for express+ remember that. Mweb need a more expensive shaped option.

Why would they cut you off? If they're shaping hotfile and you're nor doing anything to bypass that shaping, they won't care.

I say again it got FA to do with method and more to do with quantity...

Quantity is their primary concern, which is why the shaping is so severe. So if you are bypassing the shaping, then they get upset.
They are paying more for bandwidth during the outage, but still giving the impression of 'business as usual' and 'all back to normal', which is a bit slimey if you ask me.

What pissed me off about the cancelling of the contract is that they didn't send me an email or anything. They just cancelled.

If they told me "hey stop downloading and use only 5gb a month" , i would have told them to f*** of anyway. They LIE. Hope they lose lots and lots of clients. BTW i used a paid SSL server for my downloads.

How your usage stats look?

EDIT: Pardon me, you answered already, 350gb so far this month... 500gb per month definitely the threshold..
