some thing really has to be done by mweb, i do not see that is is fair to pay R539 per month for a 4 meg line and get average speeds of 12-45kbs on your line any time of day and night. I am going to give openweb a try, cannot take mwebs sh** anymore.

Way too throtled during the day. I still say openweb GOLD is the best option for those wanting good performance without paying through the nose.

Actually, i got faster downloads on p2p during the day when throttled than i did on mweb, and im not at home during the day so it doesnt bother me. And also when i get home from work around 18:30/19:00 my line is at full speed.

I would gladly if I could log into the MWEB usage page to see, but I keep getting this error:
Server Error in '/' Application.
...with a bunch of other "code" on the page which I don't understand...

according to my DU Meter totals it's about 200Gb for the month so far. That's an average of 9Gb per day.

how exactly is it rape if i for example get out 200 gigs at R540 ? quite bargain imho. even 100 gigs at that price is not bad compared to what we used to pay or do you want to go back to paying 1k for 20 gig ?

Well has anyone on Mweb uncapped actually been capped yet? Throttling is part & parcel of a service like this but to my knowledge no one has been cut off completely without warranting it out of abuse.

wel i dont use vpn just hotfile account and the free megauploads account, and last month i was able to get over 500gb and i also recieved a phonecall and email telling me to cancel my account or move to that R1999 account.

@Lancelot, I'm a bit concerned about King_Kraig as he is the only one who claims to have been discoed and not to use a vpn or similar bypass service. Being the sole exception does raise question though about the honesty of his claim ( sorry KK nothing personal just commenting ).

As you can see, I am asking MwebOps for a response to both your claims and anothers that they did not use any bypass on the shaping rules.

Necuno, it doesn't matter when he did download, shaping is supposed to ensure that he does not become a hassle to the network, if he wasn't bypassing the engine, then the fault lies with them.

I have checked megaupload and netload
Both of those is file storage servers where they download something and you then download it from them
Which means you are using software to bypass the shaping rules by pushing the traffic through a HTTP server or a server that utilizes unshaped ports

In fact megaupload even goes so far as to first try your connection through port 80 and if it is slow suggest pushing it through other ports including the 1723 PPTP VPN port

In case your ISP forces your web connections to pass through a proxy server, your download connections may collide with someone else's even though you are using different computers with different IP addresses. Some ISPs enforce proxy use only for connections to port 80, so we offer two alternate ports (800 and 1723) that you may try. This will never work if your ISP assigns private (10.*, 172.16-31.*, 192.168.*) IP addresses or uses NAT.

so that is probably why they take you on about that
