Personally I do not think this will kill neotel. What will probably happen is that most prime uncapped customers will be jumping over to the dsl 4096 package. They might still have consumers who use them for voice but that will not be the big focus methinks.
With NeoHell's service , support and billing nightmares, people who switch over to Telkom will want to switch over completely. Also, its no use in having 2 voice services, Telkom + Neotel. Telkom Voice Line Rental is compulsory, whether you use ADSL or not, so there will be no need for NeoHell's voice service.
Hopefully Neotel will take notice of the amount of cancellations and take note of how the market responds to it.
I highly doubt it. Neotel is like a headless chicken, running around in cirlces, not knowing what it is doing or where it is going, and spewing blood and other goeters on everyone they come in to contact with.
Personally I do not think neotel is really worried so much about consumers. Their offerings feel very slapdash and only tacked on due to regulatory responsibilities.
This is my feeling as well...
Well Neotel. Focus on your business customers and if you want me back.........lay some of that fiber to my place
Be innovative and not "just another provider"
Even business customers (SMEs) need a simple, reliable internet connection, which NeoHelll is too useless to provide. They have not even made the grade to be called "just another provider". They are still years away from that.
Maybe the service they providing to the larger enterprises and corporates with reliable fibre and metro ethernet is better, but for residential consumers and SMEs, there is no hope from Neohell.
