MWEB - SEACOM UPDATE

From Facebook in regards to the recent problems:

Mweb Guy do you maybe have some insight into what happened this weekend? Just got this off the Seacom facebook page:

David Baker -> MWEB passing the blame it seems, Seacom needs to contact MWEB as this is making Seacom look bad!
Seacom -> HI David, Thanks. We have and we hope that the situation is amended.

A lot of people are starting to say Mweb has lied to us about the source of the outage?

Mweb Guy ... We did experience an equipment issue in Europe and, as mentioned above, we worked together with Seacom to ensure the problem was amended. There has never been any intention to pass blame - there has been extensive network build, cable maintenance etc over the last couple of months, and any problems encountered get handled as quickly as possible. Hope this answers your question!

Hi All. Apologies for any inconvenience experienced by users over the weekend. As mentioned on our Facebook wall, the issue was with equipment in London (i.e. it was not a cable issue). We have worked on the problem in conjunction with Seacom and are currently on top of the problem.

You must be below the problem causes it's fooked again, come on get on top and screw the problem good and solid dude :D

Yea seacom is so bloody terrible, maybe we should back to 3-5 gb caps for the same price as uncapped?

Just rubbish we get subjected to all this BS and have so much bandwidth, lets get the old system back. Atleast the 3 gb used to work all month long if we could make it last :D

I can recall being out of international bandwidth by the 20th of the month, that was super fun making my 3gb account last an entire month.

Dear god please tell me you are joking?

Great news! As of the very early hours this morning we have restored all of our international bandwidth and we are running on full capacity once again. Indications from SEACOM are that their cable will only be restored later next week. In the interim, we now have full capacity split over two separate routes.
Hi, They talk **** ! They are still shaping P2P traffic.

OMG LOL dude obviously they are, they shape p2p during the day.

Erm, dude ! If SEACOM is down then it's still the same problem. It seems if SEACOM goes down then the whole planet suffers. LOL.

@micel39: No, the point Gordon_R was making is that this thread relates to a previous SEACOM outage (check the dates of the posts). There are other threads relating to the current (July 2010) outage. Let's not further confuse the issue by posting here about the current outage.
