At the least, by knowing that servers have the ability to permit access by pirate copies of games, and failing to do anything about it despite such knowledge, might be argued as complicity.

Complicit in what exactly, I don't know.

Ugh my fault I guess, never admit even the slightest fault on the internet or your entire life is invalidated... Forgot that rule... Was the post perfect, no, was the underlying principle of it justified? Hell yes, did it lead to the blocking of cracked clients on their illegal server, yes.

So I'm happy.

Oh and I've requested a title change btw, a tad sensationalist I'll admit however true it was
Was the server illegal?

Was the server illegal?

Specifically allowing cracked copies of the game to access your server and advertising that fact is blatantly illegal... They'll argue the other points of my post to distract around that fact till the cows come home though.

But is the SERVER illegal?

It was illegal because it allowed access to cracked clients... Although not sure if I'm feeding a troll now;)
In the context in the post before yours, any proof to back up what you're saying?

I'm not not a troll, just asking relevant questions.

Then why is there a option in the server settings?

There is an option for offline play from the MC servers(for say a LAN server not connected to the web), NOT for allowing hacked versions of MC to connect. People are just using this offline mode loophole to basically bypass minecrafts DRM... It's incredibly easy, but still illegal

Then they should remove it if its so illegal.

Minecraft's Notch is a member of the Swedish 'Pirate Party' and once said 'he does not believe the act of copying a game is inherently wrong as nothing is actually being stolen. If anything, it’s a marketing tool.'

No because when used properly it gives the option for people who have validated their minecraft already to not connect to the MC servers for login credentials. This lets Mojang skimp on server requirements which would be needed if every player had to connect to them every time they load the game. Also decreases load time and gives the possibility of offline play, No one wants SimCity style DRM in minecraft.

To cut thru all the bull**** tho, buy the damn game... Don't use vague excuses that Notch doesn't care, that u have to be cracked to be successful, do the right thing.

And most of all don't be so arrogant and blatant about it, you wouldn't have had this **** if you had kept your mouth shut. Mentioning Mweb was also a mistake, this thread isn't about your server, it's more about Mweb sponsoring your server. It's now served it's purpose.

One of the biggest ISP's in SA should not be sponsoring pirate servers. Not just hosting it, actually sponsoring it. They've realised that and fixed it and good on them.
