I know much has been said about MWEB throttling uncapped ADSL accounts, I got my uncapped 2gig ADSL line throttled recently. MWEB advised me as per the following:

You have used 61.89 GB so far this month.

Connection status: Throttled

Your total usage for the past 30 days: 83.78 GB

Could someone advise me if MWEB is correct or what is acceptable usage.?

Should I move to another ISP ?

Is this a rhetorical question?

Hot Damn!

LOL, just move the **** away from MWEB.

I have a 4mb uncapped line and was advised the rolling threshold is about 110gb for 30days

so i would think at 80 odd gb you would get throttled.

Jeez, 83Gb on a 2mb line.
You have been hammering it. No wonder you have been throttled

Good Day GREGF, your usage statistics would indicate that you've signed up for the standard package.

We do offer premium packages that have higher thresholds.

Inbox me if you would like to discuss your options or get some information as to how the rolling window works.

Hahaha, I could do more than that on a 1mb line (100GB) and that's only half the potential of a 1mb line.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do it. Hence "abusing"
I barely go over 100Gb on a 10mb line

What ever you do, do not talk to him, just walk away, trust me, he will try and convince you that to get a good service you need to pay more. Mweb will only charge you more to get the service they provided free to all users six months ago.. Do the smart thing and change providers. Anyone but Telkom is better. Trust me on this.
I have walked in your shoes my friend and nothing, I repeat nothing Mweb sells cannot be gotten cheaper and better elsewhere.

You do know on the 2Meg premium they only throttle at 200GBs right?

Then of course there is the option of say ... AH, or TI, or Axxess or WA or OW ... the common thread here is that they don't throttle ... or soft cap if you will, rather choosing to shape selectively which IMHO is a better option.

Edit ... I must at this point say that MWEB has other fine attributes, but soft capping is not one of them.

Uncapped with thresholds? What black magic is this?

Sums it up perfectly .. since joining Openweb a year ago I haven't even needed to log into my userpanel once to check usage, in fact I'd have to ask them for login details as I've never had the need to check on anything!

That just how  they are ..
