If you read the article you would have seen this “This weekend was not good as a result of a Seacom outage on one of the links”

Thanks, I read that, but i see i wasn't clear in my question. I was asking about more specific details to the problem, cause over the weekend i did a quick search and didn't see anything.

One complacent user doesn't warrant a news post. Speculation from the downtime this weekend caused, in my opinion, an unwarranted backlash against MWeb. However we've seen this before, as was the case with Afrihost. Such is life.

I have used a capped 2mbps internet solution from Amobia for 2 years - it was rock solid and there was never any downtime. I became used to this level of service and consider it be a good benchmark. In April when I joined Mweb uncapped and I had high expectations for it. I can honestly say that it has no let me down and it really is uncapped - there are NO nannies watching over my bandwidth usage! This does mean that I am willing to tolerate shaping since they need to ensure their QoS for all users. Looking at what I am paying now in contrast to what I paid on a capped solution, it cannot compare. Mweb uncapped is amazing.

Lastly, I should add that I may very well reach a thrid of the theoretical maximum traffic possible on a 4mbps connection within this month. That goes to show just how much you can do with Mweb uncapped ! :p

I have been with Mweb for the past 2 months and i am very happy with the service i get. Sure, the speed was a question on the weekend, but it sure beats being watched over by my previous Nanny Afrihost.

ahhh mweb u see all u need to do is give us the bandwith we pay for and then there is nothing wrong with you . simple.

Impressive :)

I signed up on the 20th of this month and I'm already on well over 40 gigs. This weekend was a little slow, but overall I'm impressed.

“No we are not shaping more at all. To the contrary we are allocating more bandwidth all the time to P2P and other non priority traffic"

in the fine words of Kesha, BLA BLA BLA

I am very impressed with MWeb best ping I ever had, and no problems with dl speeds even tho i am running a 512k over a 4mb line.

Where there is smoke there usually a fire!!! bah, I have a active ticket for two weeks now with no response from MWEB whatsoever and here they want to play the good guy! Figures....

I used to have endless trouble with timeouts due to high latency on Trackmania with Afrihost, with mweb it has been smooth sailing, even when two of us are playing. Not one timeout since switching. Yes the torrents are a bit slower in the day, but at night they fly!

I've been downloading at 400k/sec - no problems at all. Mweb works 100%

I signed up and havent regretted it yet. I knew when I signed up a few wrinkles will have to be ironed out at first...so despite a few hickups at the start that I just calmly waited out my 4 meg line is working like a beast now. I for one am a happy customer :)

So any ideas who this person is they are talking about in the article? The unreachable complainer :D
