MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Hey :)

Why am I downloading something via EA Origin at around 42kB/s? There's nothing wrong with my line. I ran a couple of speedtests tonight. The results were normal (110kB/s Down/52kB/s Up).

Hi DarkSpectre

There is also nothing wrong on our Network. As your DL shows it is good speeds you are getting.

I can answer for the EA server though.

Not comfortable with monitoring on account. NZBs also crawl day in and day out for me. I schedule NZBs so as not to affect other people in the house using the connection during the day. Here is a report from my bandwidth meter.

These speeds are nothing compared to the average of last month this time (I looked). It seems the drop in speeds during the night started on the 15th of this month and daytime speeds have suffered greatly as well.

The amount you download for the month does not tell me you have a speed problem.

You definitely getting value for money.

Please keep in mind that NNTP, Torrents etc have never been guaranteed as they are contended and best effort services.

Same excuse every time. I never had problems with NNTP till all those new cheaper accounts came alone. Since then all types of downloads have been getting worse.

If your speed test is on par with your uncapped account then it means your account is working as it should.

Please keep in mind the services that gets priority on shaped accounts.

"Priority" seems like just another word for shaping things to hell.
 
I definitely agree I get my money's worth. The speeds I linked are just an indication of what it has degraded to. I am still suffering with latency issues in GW2 when more than 20 people (exaggeration) have a dance party with each other. In other words, world events / WvWvW. This was never a problem up until the 15th which is also when the NNTP downloads started taking a hit. Now I know that NNTP/Torrents are not guaranteed speeds and I can accept that. But online gaming is a point of pride for MWEB (given priority even on shaped accounts) and that is currently underperforming to the extent that I loathe logging on right now because I have to put up with fairly bad latency.

Hey! It seems that it's not only just me. I have read a couple of threads regarding slow download speed on the official Origin forums. There's nothing I can do to fix it :( Origin is still in beta.

That is why Origin will NEVER replace STEAM as the leading digital game distributor.

and that's why i refuse to buy ea games on pc anymore :P
 
It just me or are torrent speeds oddly slow for anyone else? Usually I get full-ish speed on weekends and now it's as if it's gotten lazy. End of the month thing?

It's uncapped remember, maybe the capped guys are downloading like crazy?
 
Torrents are good for me today getting 85-95 kB/s right now

1 Mbps line speed
 
I seem to locked at 1Mbps speeds on my 4Mbps line. Tested the Telkom Test account and its faster then my Mweb account. I wonder if this is releated to having my line transfered to Mweb. Steam downloads are extremely slow.
