Hi

Telkom is only going to be doing the actual upgrade as of October(Tomorrow) in batches.

The exchanges is being made ready.

I have heard of some people getting 1mb speed simply by asking telkom to refresh/reset/whatever their ports, is this simply someone misinterpreting something or is there truth to this?

Edit: nvm figured it out, the guy saw his line was faster on the telkom adsl checker, called telkom and asked why he was still syncing at 384 while the system said he was 1mb. The consultant, not being completely clued up on the exact process, thought there was a bug and manually fixed this "bug" for him. The same thing happened with a few others once he reported his success.... doubt it will still work tomorrow though hahaha

I do not know how Telkom will be doing these upgrades. It will be best to find out by them.
 
Mweb registration

I have registered at around 7AM until now not connected . Where is the 15 minute response ? :mad:

Hi MWEB Guy, yes I'm still having a problem. Speed on any activity, doesn't go over 100Kb/s...

Not sure if it's an Mweb or Telkom issue.

Are you referring to downloads specifically?

Please do a little test for me, change your username realm on your router to @dslmweb.co.za and let me know if that helps.

Afternoon Rambo919, I checked your line readings and your line is definitely still syncing at 1mb.

It seems Telkom has updated the service status before processing the line upgrades.
 
uhm.... u mean 384? And why does the second link say I'm not getting upgraded? Because the system thinks I'm already upgraded?
 
Hey, I'm on MWEB Uncapped 384,I just wanted to know round about when Ill be upgraded to 1meg and where I can see my current speed status.

Changing my username realm helps, but my line isn't operating normally, it's everything, not just downloading.

Speed test shows normal now: http://www.speedtest.net/result/2213764176.png, but real world tests show otherwise.

Browsing is sluggish, but not every time, now and again a page is taking a lot longer to load.

Downloading is extremely erratic, spikes up to around 400Kb/s, but the average is around 150Kb/s. I tested a local download from tenet mirror, it was consistent but only reached 300Kb/s, full line speed for me normally is 450Kb/s.

Note the above comments are since changing username realm. Before changing username realm, everything is slow, nothing (streaming, browsing, downloading) exceeded 120Kb/s.

I logged a fault with Telkom, not sure what they'll do/say.

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come with the 1Mb upgrades...

sorry rambo919, the line is still syncing at up to 384kbps. We not sure how Telkom are rolling out the upgrades, which areas are first, and they have set aside 6 weeks to complete the upgrades.

Telkom has set aside 6 weeks to complete the upgrades of the 384 kbps to up to 1Mb lines.
