Thanks, I should have just checked almost all the other current posts lol, what I still do want to know is how Ill know when I'm upgraded?(other than the obvious speed increase(well hopeful speed increase))
 
Changing my username realm helps, but my line isn't operating normally, it's everything, not just downloading.

Speed test shows normal now: http://www.speedtest.net/result/2213764176.png, but real world tests show otherwise.

Browsing is sluggish, but not every time, now and again a page is taking a lot longer to load.

Downloading is extremely erratic, spikes up to around 400Kb/s, but the average is around 150Kb/s. I tested a local download from tenet mirror, it was consistent but only reached 300Kb/s, full line speed for me normally is 450Kb/s.

Note the above comments are since changing username realm. Before changing username realm, everything is slow, nothing (streaming, browsing, downloading) exceeded 120Kb/s.

I logged a fault with Telkom, not sure what they'll do/say.

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come with the 1Mb upgrades...

Please can you keep me updated with the feedback you receive from Telkom as this could assist with further feedback as well.

We have now been downgraded to 1mb??!!:twisted: This is unexceptable!!

Sorry for taking the mikkie out on you but this is not the solution to fixing our line, it is really saddening that telkscum is to lazy to actually fix our line? 6mb to 1mb in 8 months!?

Im still hearing from people that say they just phone telkom and the consultant "resets" something and then they have 1mb. Since my account is all-inclusive I'm not sure if my calling would actually do anything. Can you recreate my ports, refresh my account and whatever else is needed please? Mayby that is what everyone is talking about.

Thanks again for assisting with the upgrade of my account to 2Mbps. I just did a test via Speedtest.net, and it shows the d/l rate at 0.9Mbps. Can you please confirm if the upgrade has taken effect immediately as the consultant promised?

ypu can phone telkom if the line is with mweb , i have always done that

I'm not aware of a "reset" Telkom consultants are doing. I'm sure if you contact them they will be able to do it as the physical line is owned by them. I tried re-creating the port, but it is not allowing me to do so.

Yes, my line did just loose sync a few times, very odd, finally completely lost connection and had to restart the router. Seems fine now, still 384 but fine.

for those on a 4mbps line, what are nntp speeds like between:

06:00 - 18:00
18:00 - 06:00

you don't have to take the times literally as i think most can see what my question relates to.

on non-ssl ports obviously.
 
My speeds on news items are always extremely good, regardless of time, for me its more an issue of older content than of slow speeds

Yay, tried twice, got through to what the guy that wrote the article referred to as a "clever support consultant" on the second try. He was finishing up and the phone's battery died :(. Well it worked I'm on 1MB now.... just feel so bad that I could not thank him for his help. In my exitement I did not even get his name, oh well.
